Requirements
  • Attend company driver training in lieu of prior experience.
  • Hold a valid driver's license.
  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • Pass a pre-employment and annual Motor Vehicle Record review.
  • Obtain verification of a non-expired medical certificate as required by law within 60 days of hire.
  • Have no driver's license suspension for a traffic accident or violation within the past three years.
  • Have no at-fault accidents within the past three years.
  • Handle loads with a combined weight not exceeding 26,000 gross vehicle weight.
  • Handle basic issues and problems.
  • Know safety regulations and traffic and driver laws.
  • Follow assigned routes, schedules, safety procedures, and transportation laws.
  • Meet deadlines and work overtime as needed.
  • Remain in a stationary position for extended periods, move around the work location, operate a computer and office machinery, and perform required bending, crouching, climbing, and balancing.
  • Lift and handle materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Work in environments involving noise, heat, cold, electrical hazards, potentially dangerous equipment, and frequent travel to offsite locations.
Responsibilities
  • Inspect the company vehicle for visual and operating defects and complete a daily inspection report.
  • Keep the company vehicle clean, serviced, and maintained, and alert the supervisor when repairs or service are needed.
  • Follow Department of Transportation, local, and state driving laws and regulations.
  • Load and unload the vehicle, verifying that each order contains the correct quantities and types of material and that materials are undamaged before departure.
  • Assist in preparing orders for delivery as needed.
  • Complete delivery documentation, including obtaining the customer's signed delivery receipt and completing the packing list and branch or warehouse manifest.
  • Pick up material returns from customers, inspect their condition, and verify quantities and catalog numbers.
  • Pick up material from company suppliers.
  • Support warehouse duties such as preparing and filling orders and receiving, stocking, staging, and shipping material.
  • Deliver products to and from customers, company branch or warehouse locations, and company suppliers using a delivery van or box truck.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
