Requirements
  • Strong fundamentals in radio-frequency engineering, electromagnetics, and antenna theory.
  • Hands-on experience with radio-frequency test equipment, including spectrum analyzers, vector network analyzers, and signal generators.
  • Experience designing, tuning, or modifying antennas.
  • Solid understanding of signal propagation, interference, and link budgets.
  • Experience working with software-defined radios, such as USRP, HackRF, and BladeRF.
  • Familiarity with radio-frequency signal-processing concepts, including filtering, modulation, and detection.
  • Experience debugging real-world radio-frequency systems.
  • Ability to prototype and iterate quickly in a laboratory environment.
Responsibilities
  • Design, prototype, and optimize radio-frequency systems for airborne and ground-based platforms.
  • Develop, tune, and validate custom and off-the-shelf antenna systems for performance, range, and reliability.
  • Conduct radio-frequency testing, measurement, and analysis using vector network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, software-defined radios, and related equipment.
  • Improve signal integrity, reduce noise and interference, and optimize system-level radio-frequency performance.
  • Design and iterate on in-house antenna solutions, including patch, dipole, and phased-array antennas.
  • Build and test radio-frequency pipelines for passive detection and classification of wireless emitters.
  • Develop and implement techniques for radio-frequency-based localization and triangulation.
  • Work with software-defined-radio platforms to capture, process, and analyze radio-frequency signals in real time.
  • Collaborate with software and autonomy teams to integrate radio-frequency data into higher-level systems.
  • Support field testing and deployment, including debugging real-world radio-frequency issues.
  • Contribute to hardware architecture decisions across communications and sensing systems.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience with radio-frequency-based localization or triangulation techniques, including TDOA, RSSI, or AoA.
  • Background in passive radio-frequency sensing or spectrum monitoring.
  • Experience with drone communication protocols and radio-frequency signatures.
  • Familiarity with embedded systems or firmware using C, C++, or similar languages.
  • Experience designing radio-frequency systems for harsh or dynamic environments, such as airborne systems.
  • Knowledge of regulatory constraints, including FCC and spectrum compliance.
  • Exposure to phased arrays or beamforming systems.
