Requirements
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in software development organization.
  • Engineering degree or Master from Computer Science or Electrical Engineering with excellent grades from reputed institutes.
  • Familiar with the high demands and fast-paced response requirements of global Internet Content Providers.
  • In-depth knowledge of software systems and operationalization in the hyperscale Data Center environment, including Agile development, Software-Defined Networking, DevOps, and continuous integration/continuous deployment environments.
  • Excellent design analysis skills, including experience with software modeling, understanding of platform boot-up and device drivers, hardware-software interactions (e.g., interrupt architectures and dependencies), high-availability, software reuse, performance, testability, and extensibility.

  • Deep understanding of optical fiber networking including transponders, Optical Line Systems, Sub-sea and Pluggable components.
  • In-depth knowledge of optical network systems including L1 layer protocols like Optical Transport Network, Fibre Channel, Ethernet, Synchronous Optical Networking/Multiplexing in SDH, L0 Optical Add-Drop Multiplexer/ Dense Wavelength-Division Multiplexing/Coherent Wavelength Division Multiplexing/ ROADMs/ COADM/FOADM, technologies and Management Interfaces like Netconf, Restconf, gRPC, etc.
  • Self-driven and willing to take own initiatives and decision making and ability to perform under pressure.
Responsibilities
  • Gather feature requirements with one of the major global ICPs and participate in onboarding and recovery efforts during critical outages.
  • Analyze logs to isolate faults, determine the root cause, and work towards defect resolution.
  • Contribute to software/product release cycles by providing software solutions through product enhancements and ensuring debuggability requirements are addressed during release planning and discussions.
  • Collaborate with SVT to optimize test plans and Root Cause Analysis discussions per ICP use-cases.
  • Provide on-demand support during field escalations and outages across Production and Lab environments to perform efficient and detailed RCA and to deliver quick post-FCS solutions including temporary workarounds and corrective actions.
  • Produce and deliver post-mortem actions to prevent issues in newer products by incorporating learnings from the field.
  • Engage in System Development Lifecycle processes including product/system requirement reviews, software design implementation discussions, peer code reviews, and collaboration with Product Management for customer scenarios and use cases.
  • Coordinate cross-functional efforts with multiple engineering and services teams and with customers to preserve customer confidence and experience.
  • Discuss with Architecture team to determine necessary changes in System Architecture if required.
  • Provide on-demand guidance to the Architecture Team on ICP usage of products to plan feature considerations.
  • Contribute to increasing the capability of global services teams to reduce escalations by building tools, knowledge bases, and debug recipes.
  • Implement process changes in the Engineering organization to prevent breakages, establish checklists, regression suites, and drive custom solutions.
Desired Qualifications
  • Understanding of coherent communications systems, including experience with QPSK, 16QAM, and 64QAM, as well as coding and forward error correction algorithms.
  • Experience with ROADM, EDFA, Raman Amplifiers and Coherent Transponders.
  • Experience with Software-Defined Networking technologies such as OpenFlow or OpenStack.
  • Experience with system control plane protocols like Open Shortest Path First, Rapid Spanning Tree, Multiprotocol Label Switching, Label Distribution Protocol, and other Layer 2/3 protocols is a strong plus.
  • Proficiency in programming languages C, C++ and Python for automation development.
  • Experience with Artificial Intelligence tools for Software Development such as Copilot, Cursor, etc.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint and Word).
  • Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills and ability to handle worldwide field escalations into Optical Systems Engineering.
  • Active participation in System Development Lifecycle processes and cross-functional coordination.
