  • BA in social work, international studies, public health, or related field preferred
  • 1-2 years working with refugees or immigrants preferred
  • Bilingual language competency preferred (Swahili, Kirundi, French, Burmese, Chin, Karen, or Arabic)
  • Cross cultural competency required

Responsibilities
  • Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions
  • Complete in-take and assessment documentation for clients who need assistance with public benefits access
  • Complete any public benefit and resource applications, follow up with partner organizations, and advocate for client needs
  • Develop and maintain relationships with IDHS staff
  • Empower clients to manage their IDHS cases through IDHS community workshops
  • Maintain case notes and database reporting in a timely manner
  • Provide information and referrals to internal and external resources
  • Participate in outreach to ensure IFRP services are known throughout the community
  • Coordinate and complete WIC applications, shopping, and case management for pregnant people and moms of young children
  • Serve as an interpreter or translator when necessary
  • Attend department and all-staff meetings regularly
  • Other duties as assigned
