Requirements
  • Certificate or diploma from an approved or accredited Radiologic Technology program or Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board certification.
  • National certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists is required, along with state regulatory-agency licensure if applicable.
  • Advanced specialty certification from an accrediting body is required within 18 months of hire if applicable.
  • Basic Life Support certification is required.
  • Clinical knowledge typically achieved with two years of experience is required.
  • Effective communication and human relations skills, data analysis ability, and problem-solving ability are required.
  • Registry and travel positions require at least one year of experience in an acute care hospital setting, including specialty experience in an acute care setting within the past 12 months.
Responsibilities
  • Perform procedures by following and verifying referring providers' orders, using independent judgment and learned methodologies according to established policies and procedures.
  • Educate patients and families about procedures and treatments, and demonstrate professional conduct in interactions.
  • Produce high-quality images, prepare and present images with pertinent patient information for timely interpretation, and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Perform and evaluate equipment quality-control measurements, troubleshoot equipment issues, and notify appropriate personnel to maintain equipment performance.
  • Maintain a safe environment for patients, personnel, and visitors and follow safety policies.
  • Maintain the ethical, legal, and professional responsibilities of radiology practice, including confidentiality of work information.
  • Ensure efficient department workflow and maintain adequate supplies and materials to prevent interruptions in service.
  • Perform all functions according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, and applicable professional standards.
