Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required; an associate or bachelor’s degree in surveying, geomatics, civil engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • Typically 3–5 years of experience in land surveying, including at least 1–2 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
  • Experience reading electrical and civil plans is a plus.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office is a plus.
  • Experience with Trimble equipment is required.
  • Experience with boundary, topographic, construction staking, and ALTA/NSPS surveys is required.
  • Proficiency using GPS units, total stations, levels, and data collectors is required.
  • A valid driver’s license with a clean driving record is required.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills are required to manage a team and coordinate with stakeholders.
  • Problem-solving abilities are required to address field challenges.
  • A detail-oriented approach focused on accuracy and precision in data collection and reporting is required.
  • Candidates must complete an assessment for selection and a pre-employment drug screen.
Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage a field survey crew conducting topographic, boundary, ALTA/NSPS, construction staking, and other land surveys.
  • Set up and operate GPS equipment, total stations, levels, and other surveying instruments.
  • Ensure accurate collection of measurements, angles, and elevations.
  • Record detailed field notes, sketches, and records documenting survey data and site conditions.
  • Coordinate daily tasks and schedules for the survey crew to meet project deadlines.
  • Communicate with project managers, clients, engineers, and other stakeholders about project requirements and progress.
  • Interpret survey data and provide recommendations for project design and construction.
  • Verify survey data and cross-check measurements to ensure accuracy and precision.
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies or issues encountered in the field.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, company policies, and safety standards.
  • Care for, maintain, and calibrate surveying equipment and tools.
  • Report equipment issues or replacement needs to the appropriate department.
  • Prepare and submit survey reports, sketches, maps, and digital data files.
  • Maintain organized and current records of survey activities and findings.
  • Provide input for project plans, estimates, and schedules.
Desired Qualifications
  • An associate or bachelor’s degree in surveying, geomatics, civil engineering, or a related field.
  • Electrical and civil plan reading experience.
  • AutoCAD experience.
  • Microsoft Office experience.

Breaking ground on another industrial project with Mapletree in Joliet. Keeley Construction recently celebrated the groundbreaking of a new 419,520-square-foot industrial facility at 1851 Brandon Road in Joliet, Illinois. The ceremony brought together representatives from Mapletree, Rider Levett Bucknall (RLB), Architects Plus Design Studio, CAGE, and the Keeley Construction team to mark the beginning of another collaborative project. This development marks Keeley's second project with Mapletree in Joliet. Together, the two industrial facilities represent more than 731,800 square feet currently under construction, highlighting the continued strength of the partnership and Keeley's growing presence in the region's industrial market.
