Requirements
  • A high school education or equivalent is required.
  • Current American Heart Association CPR certification is required.
  • Current American Heart Association First Aid certification is required.
  • The employee must effectively use personal computers, software applications, general office equipment, and telephone systems.
  • The employee must communicate verbally and in writing in English and read and comprehend written, graphic, and oral instructions.
  • The employee must meet attendance standards and work the hours necessary to perform the essential job functions.
  • The employee must maintain confidentiality regarding student needs and abilities.
  • The employee must maintain required district, department, and Colorado Department of Human Services professional development training, competency, and account records.
  • The employee must complete at least 15 hours of early-childhood-specific professional development annually.
  • The employee must follow applicable district, local health board, and Colorado Department of Human Services policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
  • Support classroom setup and cleanup and prepare lesson plans and materials under the direction of the preschool teacher or licensed/certified provider.
  • Assist students with daily functions and life-skills instruction, including food preparation, hand-over-hand or tube feeding, and toileting.
  • Clean and sanitize the classroom in accordance with local, Douglas County Health Board, and Colorado Department of Human Services regulations.
  • Provide appropriate supervision of students throughout the day, including when the preschool teacher is absent.
  • Administer and document prescription medication and perform delegated medical procedures when assigned.
  • Prepare materials and implement interventions and strategies under the direction of the preschool teacher or special education team.
  • Document health-related services in the designated Medicaid documentation system when assigned.
  • Communicate and interact appropriately with students, families, and school personnel.
  • Assist students in non-classroom settings, including bathrooms, playgrounds, and bus transfers, which may involve lifting children or equipment.
  • Assist in documenting student learning and growth, including individualized education program goal progress monitoring and Teaching Strategies GOLD.
  • Provide assistance to teachers and special service providers with instruction, medical and health needs, and clerical support.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding student needs and abilities.
  • Maintain current records of required district, department, and Colorado Department of Human Services training, competencies, and accounts.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
