HMRC awards Capgemini $47M SAP migration contract, extending 28-year relationship

The UK's HM Revenue & Customs has awarded Capgemini a £37 million contract to migrate its Enterprise Tax Management Platform from SAP ECC 6.0 to S/4HANA. The contract runs until 2032, potentially extending Capgemini's involvement with HMRC's tax systems to 28 years since the relationship began in 2004. The platform handles more than £800 billion in tax revenue and payments annually for 40,000 users. HMRC insisted the procurement was fair and competitive, with several bidders competing from the Digital Legacy Application Services framework. Capgemini became HMRC's lead technology supplier in 2004 under the Aspire contract. A 2014 parliamentary committee found that Aspire cost £7.9 billion between 2004 and 2014, generating £1.2 billion in combined profit for Capgemini and Fujitsu.

Capgemini has upgraded its 2026 revenue growth outlook following strong first-half performance. The French IT services firm now expects constant currency revenue growth of around 8.5% to 9.0%, up from its previous target of 6.5% to 8.5%. Capgemini launches AI-powered 'Inside My Race' for Tour de France personalised fan experience

Capgemini and the Tour de France have launched "Inside My Race", an AI-powered digital platform that provides fans with personalised, near real-time insights during the cycling race. As the Tour's official technology partner, Capgemini developed the solution to transform complex data into contextual stories and tailored race analysis. The platform uses generative AI to interpret live race data, combining information on positioning, speed and terrain with editorial content and historical performance. Fans can follow up to four favourite riders and receive personalised narratives before, during and after each stage. A 3D map visualises selected riders' progress compared to race leaders. The solution, available from 4 July on Tour de France platforms, represents the first innovation from Capgemini's partnership with the event, aiming to make cycling more accessible to global audiences.
