Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in Student Affairs or a related field and 2-3 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in sorority and fraternity advising, specifically with culturally based sororities and fraternities, program and event planning, leadership development, alcohol education, hazing prevention, and recruitment and intake best practices.
  • Ability to engage with stakeholders through discussion, presentation, or facilitation.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented and collaborative environment while maintaining relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community.
  • Ability to serve on-call and respond to crisis situations according to organizational protocol, including evening and weekend work as required.
  • Experience modeling values that support inclusion, belonging, and wellbeing.
  • Willingness to work irregular and flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends.
Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the overall strategic planning of Sorority & Fraternity Life.
  • Serve as the primary Multicultural Greek and Fraternal Council advisor.
  • Advise student leaders in council program planning, community service coordination, recruitment and intake planning, and relationship building with Cornell community student groups and departments with shared missions.
  • Serve as a chapter coach for approximately 15 university-recognized sororities and fraternities across the Interfraternity Council, Panhellenic Council, and Multicultural Greek and Fraternal Council.
  • Support student leaders through officer training and transition, chapter goal setting, leadership development, risk management education, health and wellbeing initiatives, and promotion of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Collaborate with the Sorority & Fraternity Life team to develop, implement, and evaluate educational programs and services for the sorority and fraternity community.
  • Co-plan and oversee small- and large-scale events.
  • Serve as a rotating University Administrator On-Call, managing after-hours crisis-response situations.
  • Engage across Campus and Community Engagement and Student and Campus Life by serving on teams, committees, and workgroups as needed.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with students, alumni, staff, parents, live-in advisors, community members, and campus partners.
  • Occasionally represent the Director and Associate Director.
  • Use leadership, coaching, mentoring, and planning skills to advance Sorority & Fraternity Life strategic initiatives involving coaching, communication, educational training, and programs.
  • Infuse inclusive practices to support an increasingly diverse community.
Desired Qualifications
  • A master's degree in Student Affairs or a related field.
  • Membership in a collegiate sorority or fraternity.
  • Previous experience working with or advising sororities and fraternities.
  • Experience working with headquarters staff and alumni advisors, as well as other university departments supporting the work of sororities and fraternities.
  • In-depth knowledge of current trends and best practices in higher education regarding sororities and fraternities.
