Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
- 4-6 years of experience in engineering
- Familiarity with injection molding and the manufacturing of consumer devices
- Experience in troubleshooting electronics
- Understanding of Good Manufacturing Processes
- Familiarity with precision measurement and inspection equipment, along with microscopy
- Experience employing root cause analysis techniques such as 6-Sigma to diagnose failures
Responsibilities
- Conduct failure analysis on field failures at the component and system level
- Provide engineering guidance to failure analysis on customer returns and manufacturing rejects
- Use your prior experience in debugging devices, along with critical thinking to narrow down failures to their root cause
- Design experiments to test theories and recreate failure modes
- Trace defects to the manufacturing processes or design issues
- Track defects, compile data, and statistically analyze results to identify potential failures before they become widespread
- Understand how human factors affect potential issues in running tests
- Report on your findings on failures and proposed mitigations to manufacturing and design teams
- Work with the quality team to streamline the reporting and analysis of failures
- Travel to supplier's manufacturing sites, as needed
