Requirements
- Graduate from an accredited school where a diploma in Medical Assistant is granted.
- Hold Certified Medical Assistant certification through AMAA or CCMA.
- Hold Basic Life Support certification.
- Graduate from an accredited school for licensed practical nurses.
- Hold current licensure as a practical nurse in the state of Wisconsin.
- Complete a pharmacology course.
- Be able to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds while transferring and positioning patients and maneuvering equipment using gait belts and transfer devices.
- Be able to occasionally bend to the floor, squat, kneel, crouch, and reach overhead to assist with patient care or retrieve equipment or supplies.
- Be able to occasionally handle objects and use smell, touch, and control knobs, switches, and levers.
- Be able to use spatial, peripheral, color, accommodation, and depth perception.
- Be able to frequently use near and far vision while reviewing patient records, computer screens, charts, patient-equipment gauges, and monitors.
Responsibilities
- Perform patient care, technical, and clerical functions in the ambulatory setting.
- Provide clinic patient care as directed by the provider or registered nurse.
- Remain aware of the psychosocial needs of patients and families as a member of the patient care team.
- Perform scheduling and develop and review protocols, procedures, and job descriptions.
- Frequently sit while performing role tasks.
- Occasionally walk and stand.
