Responsibilities
  • Conduct clinical compliance audits based on professional nursing knowledge and expertise.
  • Conduct audit fieldwork and testing in a competent, objective, and professional manner.
  • Prepare detailed audit work papers in accordance with established audit programs, professional standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify compliance risks and develop practical recommendations to address audit findings.
  • Draft audit reports with evidence-supported conclusions and clear, concise, actionable recommendations.
  • Monitor and track corrective action plans resulting from compliance audits and monitoring activities.
  • Participate in annual compliance risk assessments and audit plans.
  • Assist with the development, review, revision, and implementation of organizational policies and procedures.
  • Collaborate with operational and clinical leaders to keep policies and procedures current and aligned with regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain documentation related to policy review and revision activities.
  • Conduct compliance rounding throughout the organization.
  • Identify compliance risks, operational concerns, and process-improvement opportunities through rounding and monitoring.
  • Collaborate with department leaders and staff to promote compliance requirements and best practices.
  • Document observations, findings, and trends and communicate concerns to leadership.
  • Coordinate and monitor corrective action plans to ensure timely resolution and sustained compliance.
  • Develop, coordinate, and deliver compliance education and training programs.
  • Conduct Compliance and HIPAA Privacy education during new employee orientation.
  • Provide department-specific compliance and HIPAA Privacy training as assigned.
  • Assist with HIPAA Privacy investigations, including fact gathering, documentation review, and follow-up.
  • Support drug diversion auditing, monitoring, and investigative activities.
  • Identify trends, risks, and potential noncompliance related to privacy and drug diversion prevention.
  • Participate in HIPAA Privacy walkthroughs and monitoring activities.
  • Maintain documentation and confidentiality related to investigations, audits, monitoring, and corrective actions.
  • Monitor and research state and federal laws, regulations, guidance, and industry trends affecting healthcare operations and compliance programs.
  • Communicate regulatory updates and compliance requirements to affected departments and stakeholders.
  • Assist with interpreting and applying laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and ethical standards.
  • Research compliance and regulatory issues and provide analysis and recommendations.
  • Support investigations involving alleged, suspected, or reported violations.
  • Communicate with organizational leadership about compliance activities, emerging risks, audit outcomes, and urgent issues.
  • Assist with compliance-related employee interviews, surveys, and investigations.
  • Collaborate with department leaders and staff to promote a culture of compliance, integrity, and accountability.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information, audit records, investigations, and department activities.
  • Use required technology and software systems, including email, timekeeping systems, learning management systems, and organizational intranet resources.
  • Comply with organizational policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience in healthcare operations, healthcare auditing, consulting, regulatory compliance, investigations, and identifying and resolving systemic operational issues.
  • Certification in Healthcare Compliance or a related compliance credential.
  • Experience with Mediregs compliance software.
