As a valued intern, the Reinsurance Intern will be responsible for participating and assisting in the coordinated efforts related to the frequent placement of Reinsurance contracts with all business units at Core Specialty. The Intern will gain valuable experience supporting the creation of all monthly, quarterly, and ad hoc reports produced within the Reinsurance Management department, as well as, having a voice to provide recommendations and conclusions to enhance the overall reinsurance management environment at Core Specialty.
Key Accountabilities/Deliverables:
Assist with reinsurance management, guideline maintenance, process, and procedure documentation.
Monitor reinsurance contracts ensuring clarity and accuracy of agreed-upon terms, monthly monitoring, or key indicators such as reinsurance collateral, and reinsurance concentration levels.
Support the process of all reinsurance placements and checkpoints throughout the placement lifecycle.
Assist with preparation of materials for various governance committees and reinsurance review meetings.
Assist with the completion of any underwriting, claims or reinsurance audits as needed.
Recommend changes to procedures to improve operations with the office.
Assist with special projects and other assigned duties as appropriate.
Assist in the build out of dedicated Reinsurance Management software.
Technical Knowledge and Understanding:
Must be able to work in a team environment with direct and indirect reporting relationships (Matrix)
Solid administrative and project management skills
Strong attention to detail
Problem solving, data, and analytical thinking skills.
Familiarity and ability to use Microsoft Office products especially PowerPoint and Excel.
Intermediate level of general Finance knowledge, and a basic knowledge of reinsurance and/or specialty insurance is preferred.Strong written and oral communication skills.
Experience:
Must be actively working towards a bachelor’s or master’s degree, preferably in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Insurance Risk Management, Business, or a related field.
Experience working with cross-functional teams.
Able to work 40 hours per week for 12 weeks.
Must be able to work in the U.S. without future sponsorship.
