Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communication, Public Affairs, Journalism, or related field.
  • Significant experience in corporate communications, public relations, or journalism.
  • Advanced organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • Ability to build productive relationships across all levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated success in advocacy, media relations, and public affairs.
  • Excellent presentation, public speaking, and written communication skills.
  • Strong collaboration, initiative, and accountability.
  • Must have a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Proof of auto insurance required at the time of hire.
Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary spokesperson for AAA in media interviews, public events, and with traffic safety advocates.
  • Develop and oversee statewide strategic plans for public affairs and communications.
  • Ensure the AAA image is consistently and positively represented to all audiences.
  • Oversee all external communications, including press releases, speeches, fact sheets, and talking points.
  • Plan and execute press conferences, special events, and programs that advance AAA’s mission.
  • Measure and report on the effectiveness of community relations and media relations activities.
  • Advise management on public/media reactions to organizational decisions and initiatives.
  • Support and participate in community outreach efforts (e.g., teen/senior driver safety, child passenger safety, impaired/distracted driving prevention).
  • Collaborate with staff and business line managers to secure media coverage for advocacy, products, and services.
  • Represent AAA in traffic safety and injury prevention committees, task forces, and coalitions.
  • Develop and promote strategic traffic safety programs, including AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety research and Club initiatives.
  • Build and maintain relationships with law enforcement, government officials, transportation agencies, and community organizations to promote AAA initiatives and partnerships.
  • Monitor news media (print, broadcast, online) for stories impacting AAA or presenting opportunities for promotion.
  • Participate in internal committees and support employee engagement events.
  • Champion AAA’s legacy and ongoing commitment to traveler safety.
