As the Finance Manager, you will work closely with all groups throughout the Tools and Outdoor (T&O) teams providing analytical support to annual strategic plans, promotions and product launches for all categories. The Manager will liaison with all teams to ensure alignment and consistency, as well as perform ongoing analysis of results versus OP and respective forecasts.
The How
Financial Planning & Analysis:
Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes, inclusive of Sales, Margin and OPEX.
Develop and maintain detailed budget models, financial reports, and detailed variance analysis.
Lead the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual variance analysis, providing insights into key performance metrics, variances, and trends.
Support monthly and quarterly financial close processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
Provide financial insights to guide decision-making and support business objectives.
Review and maintain retail customer P&Ls, partnering with key leaders to achieve targeted objectives.
Conduct ad hoc analysis to improve business performance for the customers and overall business (including – but not limited to – Strat Plan, Month-end results calls, Business Reviews, P&L requests, process improvements).
Strategic Business Partnership:
Partner with business leads to create detailed annual Operating Plans and quarterly financial forecasts for retail customers, inclusive of Sales, Margin and OPEX.
Provide regular reporting, conduct P&L reviews and provide insights into risks and opportunities to key business partners.
Play a lead finance role in supporting New Product Development, Pricing, Business Unit growth.
Provide financial and analytical support to T&O retail teams, including sales, marketing, & product, in the development of annual strategies and ongoing promotions.
Provide training and support to retail business partners on financial processes.
Develop cross-functional relationships (Supply Chain, Sales, Marketing, multiple US teams) to help the retail organization achieve its targets and objectives.
Work with Canadian leaders to answer all ad hoc inquiries.
Operational Excellence & Process Improvement:
Lead process improvement initiatives to enhance financial efficiency.
Establish processes to track and optimize customer spend and SG&A.
Work on automation and standardization of financial reports and forecasting to improve accuracy, visibility and efficiency.
Track and maintain key financial KPIs, ensuring alignment with key business partners and long-term strategic goals.
Manage integration and system improvements between financial systems.
What we need:
Post-secondary degree in Finance, Accounting or Business
Accounting Designation (CPA) or working towards a designation or MBA accreditation
Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, financial analysis or related roles
Experience working in a CPG or manufacturing industry a strong preference
Experience working in Big 4 Audit firm is considered an asset
Experience managing direct and indirect teams with a strong coaching and mentoring philosophy
Proficiency in financial analysis tools and software.
Advanced Excel skills and experience with multiple ERP systems
Proficiency with SAP and Infor a plus
Results-driven, with a strong focus on achieving financial and operational goals
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Effective communication and presentation skills
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
