Requirements
  • High school diploma + 1–2 years’ experience in a veterinary setting
  • Strong patient restraint skills (including difficult-to-handle animals)
  • Proven ability to multitask and follow directions
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Veterinary Nurse Assistant B requires the same as above, plus 2–3 years’ experience
Responsibilities
  • Performing room checks to ensure areas are organized, clean, and fully stocked
  • Restocking supplies and organizing the dog and cat treatment rooms
  • Assisting with restraint and patient handling as directed
  • Setting up for IV catheter placement, gathering fluids, and ensuring the crash cart is ready during emergencies
  • Assisting with emergencies including during arrest situations and updating patient charts
  • Walking stable patients in designated areas
  • Running lab work and pharmacy/lab runs as needed
  • Assisting nurses with treatments under direct supervision
  • Setting up oxygen and fluids, monitoring during treatments
  • Assisting with recoveries from anesthesia and monitoring blood transfusions
