Overview

Position Summary

The Stoneshield Technician is responsible for the professional installation of OEM‑approved stoneshield protection film on vehicles within the dealership or collision center environment. This role ensures all film applications meet OEM quality standards for fit, finish, and durability. The technician works closely with the detail, service, and collision teams to prepare surfaces, install protection products, and deliver exceptional results that enhance vehicle appearance and protection.

Responsibilities and Qualifications

Key Responsibilities

• Install OEM‑approved stoneshield or paint‑protection film (PPF) on hoods, fenders, bumpers, mirrors, and other designated areas.
• Inspect vehicle surfaces and prepare them through cleaning, decontamination, and minor corrections to ensure proper film adhesion.
• Use cutting tools, squeegees, heat guns, and installation techniques to achieve flawless alignment and bubble‑free finishes.
• Review protection requirements on repair orders and communicate any concerns regarding fitment or film coverage.
• Ensure proper curing, trimming, and edge finishing to meet OEM installation standards.
• Maintain detailed documentation of completed installations and report any variances or defects.
• Handle film materials carefully to prevent contamination, damage, or installation imperfections.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area, including tools, installation stations, and storage of film products.
• Follow all dealership and OEM safety procedures, including proper handling of tools, chemicals, and equipment.
• Support production workflow by coordinating scheduling and prioritization of vehicles requiring stoneshield installation.
• Participate in ongoing training for OEM‑approved film systems, installation best practices, and dealership quality requirements.
• All other duties as assigned by leadership.

Qualifications

Qualifications

• 1–2+ years of experience installing stoneshield or paint‑protection film (PPF) preferred; detailing or vinyl‑wrap experience is an asset.
• Strong understanding of surface preparation, film installation techniques, trimming, and heat application.
• High attention to detail with the ability to deliver clean, precision‑quality work.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast‑paced production environment.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with multiple departments.
• Familiarity with OEM installation guidelines or willingness to complete manufacturer training.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required.
