Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is required.
- Specialized knowledge and experience in alternative construction delivery methods are required.
- Advanced knowledge of HCSS Heavy Bid Estimating Software is required.
- Strong technical writing skills are required.
- The ability to lead pursuit and estimating activities on a large or complex pursuit project is required.
Responsibilities
- Review proposal specifications, drawings, and pre-bid meetings to determine the scope of work and required contents of the estimate.
- Review and incorporate historical data from purchase orders, subcontracts, and productivity analysis reports into unit and person-hour figures.
- Provide technical input regarding project and contract risks to the lead estimator responsible for final bid price approval.
- Review the final estimate to ensure defined work aligns with the overall project schedule and cost goals.
- Prepare discipline estimates by completing takeoffs of the scope of work.
- Calculate material quantity requirements from engineering drawing dimensions.
- Monitor client addenda and advise the estimating team on changes during the estimate period.
- Assist with design review options and recommend the best solution based on cost, engineering quality, or material availability.
- Partner with the estimating team to prepare and conduct project hand-off meetings between the pursuit team and project management team.
- Research and recommend vendors and subcontractors for designated scopes of work to achieve pursuit and cost goals.
Desired Qualifications
- 10 or more years of experience in the construction industry, estimating, or cost control.
