Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Successful completion of College Anatomy and Physiology I, certification as a Central Sterile Processing Technician, completion of Central Sterile Processing certification, or completion of a hospital-approved Surgical Technician certificate course is required.
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support Provider training is required.
  • Must be able to read, write legibly, speak, and comprehend English.
  • Must be able to use electronic mail, telephone, texting, time and attendance software, learning management software, and the intranet.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and accurately, receive delegation, work in groups, perform structured and unstructured work, meet time pressure and timelines, and perform tasks exactly and accurately.
  • Must be able to tolerate exposure to human body fluids, disease, infection, laboratory chemicals, hazardous materials, and cleaning solutions while using required protective and safety equipment.
  • Must be able to perform very heavy work, including exerting more than 100 pounds of force occasionally, more than 50 pounds frequently, and more than 20 pounds constantly.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, kneel, bend, sit, stoop, lift, reach reasonable distances, run in an emergency, and tolerate prolonged standing and walking.
  • Must possess normal or corrected hearing and vision, coordinated finger movement, and the ability to perceive temperature, texture, shape, and size with the fingertips.
  • Must possess stamina to work a 12-hour shift and be able to perform the duties with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Physical presence onsite is essential.
Responsibilities
  • Assist with nursing care of patients in the procedural suite by performing routine and delegated duties under RN supervision and according to hospital and department standards and policies.
  • Apply principles of aseptic practice, follow established procedures, and adapt to new situations.
  • Use knowledge of instruments and equipment in the procedural suite, including specialty equipment used by the services provided at DCH.
  • Assist with scheduled and unscheduled procedures, including setting up and cleaning up after each case.
  • Provide service in a cost-effective manner.
  • Participate actively on committees and teams.
  • Follow safety practices and help maintain a safe, clean environment.
  • Participate in the selection of new team members.
  • Maintain continuing education by attending in-services and appropriate educational workshops.
  • Perform initial and annual competency assessments for the job class.
  • Maintain performance, patient and employee satisfaction, and financial standards outlined in the performance evaluation.
  • Perform compliance requirements outlined in the Employee Handbook.
  • Adhere to DCH Behavioral Standards and DCH Health System policies and procedures.
  • Perform essential job functions in a manner that ensures the safety of patients, visitors, and employees.
  • Identify and reduce unsafe practices and take appropriate action to reduce risks and hazards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
