Requirements
  • Master’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science or related technical field; plus 10 years in any occupation/ title providing progressively responsible professional experience in a software engineering role.
  • Alternatively, will accept a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science or related technical field; plus 15 years in any occupation/ title providing progressively responsible professional experience in a software engineering role.
  • 10 years of experience working with an Agile development methodology;
  • 7 years of experience in a supervisory role managing engineers, product specialists, co-ops, and interns.
  • Demonstrated solid experience in financial services developing solutions for Portfolio Management, Trading, Compliance, Post-Trade, IBOR or Wealth Management.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide technical vision to achieve both tactical and strategic goals.
  • Demonstrated experience with object-oriented programming, compiler or interpreter technologies, embedded systems, operating systems, relational databases (RDBMS), scripting and new/advanced programming languages.
  • Demonstrated solid system level architectural skills.
  • Demonstrated experience leading teams to build large-scale, high-performance commercial databases and commercial enterprise applications using technologies such as C#.NET, WPF, WCF, Angular, React, TypeScript, Enterprise Library, JAVA, SQL Server 2019, Azure DB and Oracle 19c.
  • Proven experience and knowledge of tools/controls such as Visual Studio Code, Visual Studio 2019, IntelliJ, Eclipse, Git, Perforce, SharePoint, Syncfusion and DevExpress Controls, ReSharper, JIRA, ANTS Profiler, dotTrace Profiler, Visio.
  • Working knowledge of application monitoring tools such as Dynatrace, Open Telemetry, Prometheus, SolarWinds, Grafana, Elastic, ELK Stack and Splunk.
  • Working knowledge of fintech desktop technologies such as OpenFin, Finsemble and Glue42.
  • Proven experience with TDD (Test Driven Development) and working knowledge of test automation tools such as Silk4Net, Cypress, Cucumber, Jest, NUnit and Junit.
  • Solid ability to clearly and succinctly summarize results for upper management.
  • Demonstrated experience recruiting, hiring, and building a talented engineering team.
  • Demonstrated experience organizing and running efficient meetings.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage solution complexity to ensure simple designs and workflows.
  • Ability to coordinate and lead cross-team activities to deliver successful solutions.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and developing large scale commercial applications.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for leading a department or sub-department comprised of 3 or more engineering Scrum teams to build and maintain one or more of State Street/Charles River’s suites of components in a business or strategic area.
  • Responsible for providing engineering vision, expertise and guidance on software construction while ensuring uncompromising quality and usability.
  • Managing team leads and/or development team staff, including assignment of work items, employee performance, engagement and professional development.
  • Contributing to technical and business initiatives across the entire CRIMS product line through influence and knowledge.
  • Working with Product Management leadership to plan, design and develop software solutions to meet strategic market needs.
  • Driving the Agile process and creating a culture of continuous improvement of processes and methodologies within and beyond the direct scope of responsibility.
  • Contributing expert guidance on software development process including writing, reviewing and approving software development specifications, projects, methods and schedules.
  • Leading the architecture and technical direction for the area of responsibility.
  • Keeping abreast of existing and emerging technologies impactful to CRDs business.
  • Providing expert guidance and critical analysis of proposed changes during design reviews and product demos with a sharp eye towards simplicity of design and function.
  • Advising staff members on solving complex technical problems.
  • Monitoring progress on key initiatives and working packages to ensure fulfillment of product and scheduling objectives.
  • Coordinating with peers within the R&D organization to ensure seamless integration of functional workflows.
  • Reviewing testing strategy and test plans for team’s product to ensure high product quality.
  • Identifying improvements in team quality processes including defining new strategies, processes, and required tooling to improve quality.
  • Working with the client services organization to provide support and maintenance to current customers.
  • Supporting the sales organization and assisting in the execution of POCs for prospective customers.
  • Acting as the escalation point and primary contact point for troubleshooting customer production problems and driving to quick resolution.
  • Acting in a team lead capacity as needed.
