  • A minimum of 5 years of experience using AVEVA PI and Asset Framework or a similar data historian, including at least 2 years in a system administration capacity, is required.
  • Hands-on administration of PI Data Archive and Asset Framework servers, including archive management, backups, security and access control, licensing, buffering, and interface or connector configuration, preferably in an electric generating facility or other operational environment.
  • Experience with data management techniques to access, integrate, and present data from multiple sources, including SCADA, Excel, and relational databases.
  • Proficiency in Python or an equivalent scripting language for extracting, transforming, and automating data tasks across multiple sources.
  • Hands-on experience with PI AF SDK, PI Web API, and PI Integrator for Business Analytics.
  • Experience developing PI Vision and/or AspenTech displays and graphics.
  • Working knowledge of OPC DA/UA, DNP3, Modbus, and similar industrial communication protocols, including troubleshooting network connectivity issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot communication and system issues associated with plant controls, historians, and communication components.
  • Experience organizing and managing multiple projects simultaneously, with the ability to plan and prioritize problems requiring immediate attention.
  • Proficiency with Excel, Visio, Word, PowerPoint, and similar applications.
Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary administrator and single point of contact for AVEVA PI and AspenTech IP.21 administrative tasks, including server health, archive management, backup and restore, licensing, security and access control, and user provisioning across the Southern Power fleet.
  • Monitor historian server health, archive sizing, buffer and queue status, collective and replication status, and overall system performance; tune configurations and plan capacity as the fleet grows.
  • Partner with IT and vendors to plan and execute historian hardware and software upgrades, patching, version migrations, and platform consolidation with minimal operational disruption, validating data integrity before and after each change.
  • Liaise with the central server team to maintain, document, and periodically test backup, failover, and recovery procedures for historian environments, including recovery runbooks and restoration time objectives.
  • Liaise with the corporate data acquisition team to configure, maintain, and troubleshoot PI interfaces and connectors and IP.21 data sources, including buffering, failover, and communication with plant control systems and SCADA.
  • Administer historian environments according to Southern Company cybersecurity standards, access management policies, and applicable regulatory requirements; support audits, vulnerability remediation, patch compliance, and periodic account reviews.
  • Establish monitoring for stale tags, flatlined signals, bad values, scaling errors, communication failures, and archive gaps, and drive identified issues to resolution.
  • Own fleet-wide standards for tag naming, point types, compression and exception settings, units of measure, and Asset Framework templates and hierarchies; review and approve changes to preserve structural integrity across original equipment manufacturers and asset classes.
  • Develop and maintain calculated points, Asset Framework analytics, event frames, notifications, tools, and reports supporting real-time monitoring, diagnostics, and performance reporting.
  • Lead integration of new generation and storage sites into historian environments, including interface and connector setup, tag provisioning, Asset Framework buildout, initial data validation, and updates to interfacing applications; manage equipment swaps, repowers, and decommissions.
  • Plan and lead historian migration and consolidation efforts, including tag mapping, historical data backfill, validation, cutover coordination, and stakeholder communication.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for site personnel and business users to resolve historian issues, Asset Framework questions, display problems, and data access requests.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues spanning plant controls, SCADA, network connectivity, industrial protocols, historian interfaces, and archive subsystems; coordinate plant, IT, and vendor resources as needed.
  • Develop and maintain PI Vision and AspenTech displays, graphics, and reports, and coach end users to build and maintain their own.
  • Manage vendor support cases, escalations, license renewals, and roadmap discussions, and interface with operational, commercial, site, and IT stakeholders to resolve issues end to end.
  • Establish relationships and communicate with plant and corporate employees and management, and lead team and customer-support meetings.
  • Provide historian training to analysts, engineers, and plant personnel and take an active role in developing new employees.
  • Maintain documentation of historian architecture, server configurations, interface inventories, tag and Asset Framework standards, runbooks, and standard operating procedures.
  • Organize and manage multiple concurrent projects, distinguishing issues requiring immediate attention from those that allow more time to resolve.
  • Produce business cases to justify financial investment decisions for technology tools, upgrades, and platform expansion.
  • Stay current on AVEVA PI System releases, historian technologies, industrial data architectures, and relevant industry trends, and incorporate best practices and lessons learned into daily operations.
Desired Qualifications
  • A master's degree in Engineering (Electrical, Computer, Instrumentation and Controls), Computer Science, Data Science, or a related technical field is preferred.
  • Experience with non-AVEVA historians such as AspenTech IP.21, dataPARC, or eDNA, and with historian migration or consolidation projects.

  • Experience in power generation, renewables, or utilities operations.
  • AVEVA PI Infrastructure Specialist certification or an equivalent AVEVA/OSIsoft PI System accreditation.
  • Proficiency in SQL for querying, integrating, and manipulating data across relational databases and data platforms.
  • Familiarity with Databricks, Azure, or equivalent cloud data platforms and how historian data is delivered into them.
  • Understanding of how curated historian data feeds anomaly detection, predictive analytics, and artificial intelligence and machine learning pipelines.
  • Familiarity with NERC CIP or similar operational technology cybersecurity and compliance requirements.

Robinhood, Coinbase jumped, Marvell and edison slumped.

Robinhood, Coinbase jumped, Marvell and edison slumped. The wild price swings among the sectors continued in the last day. Discount trading firms Robinhood (HOOD) and Futu Holdings (FUTU) broke out of their recent uptrend. Renewed momentum for the U.S. Clarity Act, which regulates cryptocurrencies, lifted those stocks. Higher crypto trading volumes would increase revenues for Robinhood and Coinbase (COIN). HOOD stock gained 13% in the last week while COIN stock jumped by 25.6%. Short interest on Coinbase shares is at 10.12%. In the storage sector, Marvell Technology (MRVL) fell to its 50-day moving average, down by 5.57% last Friday. The firm will expand its range of custom silicon programs that attach to Alphabet's (GOOG) TPU chip. That includes AI inference accelerators, storage and network controllers, and near-memory compute. Edison International (EIX) revisited the $70 lows. Earlier this month, the LA County report wrote that electrical sparks from EIX's out-of-service transmission tower caused California's Eaton fire. The firm already took responsibility for the fire. It offered more than $775 million in funds to support the Wildfire Recovery Compensation Program. EIX stock is a compelling investment. Its dividend yields 4.83%. The firm has good value, strong profitability, and saw bullish EPS and revenue revisions from analysts in the last three months. Edison's peers include PG&E (PCG), ConEd (ED), and The Southern Company (SO).
