Requirements
  • Completion of an ACGME-accredited residency in Anesthesiology.
  • Completion of an ACGME-accredited fellowship in Pain Medicine.
  • Board eligibility or certification in Anesthesiology.
  • Board eligibility or certification for Added Qualification in Pain Medicine.
  • Ability to evaluate and treat patients with acute and chronic pain conditions, including cancer-related pain, spine pain, neuropathic pain, and musculoskeletal pain.
  • Expertise in medication management, interventional procedures, and referrals to physical therapy and other specialties.
  • Ability to perform fluoroscopically guided and ultrasound-guided spine and peripheral procedures, including spine and joint injections, radiofrequency ablations, peripheral nerve blocks, spinal cord stimulators, and intrathecal delivery systems.
  • Ability to see patients and perform procedures independently when required.
  • Ability to supervise residents, Pain Medicine fellows, and advanced registered nurse practitioners.
  • Ability to participate in departmental academic activities, conferences, committees, and faculty meetings.
Responsibilities
  • Evaluate and treat patients with a wide variety of acute and chronic pain conditions in outpatient clinics affiliated with the University of Miami Health System.
  • Utilize medication management, interventional procedures, and referrals to physical therapy and other specialties.
  • Perform fluoroscopically guided and ultrasound-guided spine and peripheral procedures, including spine and joint injections, radiofrequency ablations, peripheral nerve blocks, and interventional procedures involving spinal cord stimulators and intrathecal delivery systems.
  • Supervise residents, Pain Medicine fellows, and advanced registered nurse practitioners.
  • See patients and perform procedures independently when required.
  • Participate in departmental academic activities, including teaching and mentoring trainees, departmental conferences, committees, and faculty meetings.
  • Provide primarily chronic outpatient pain services.
  • Adjust effort distribution based on department needs, candidate interests, and success in obtaining extramural research grant funding.
