Requirements
  • An active Top Secret clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information eligibility is required, along with eligibility to obtain a Counterintelligence Polygraph.
  • The ability to obtain Department of Defense 8140 (8570) Information Assurance Technical Level II certification is required.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related STEM field is required, although equivalent experience may substitute for the degree.
  • At least 6 years of experience administering Linux-based systems in enterprise, research computing, or distributed compute environments, including configuration and troubleshooting of multi-node systems.
  • Experience supporting distributed compute environments with workload schedulers such as Slurm, PBS, Torque, or Grid Engine.
  • Experience supporting multi-node compute environments or high-performance computing clusters.
  • Professional experience administering Linux systems through a command-line interface, preferably RHEL derivatives.
  • Experience with scripting and automation using Bash, Python, or similar tools.
  • Experience troubleshooting server hardware, operating systems, and distributed computing systems.
  • Familiarity with cluster networking and high-speed interconnects.
  • Experience diagnosing performance issues across compute, networking, and storage layers.
  • Strong troubleshooting and documentation skills.
Responsibilities
  • Build, configure, and maintain secure high-performance computing clusters for simulations, scientific computing, and GPU workloads.
  • Collaborate with infrastructure teams on cluster platforms, including schedulers, provisioning systems, high-speed interconnects, and distributed nodes.
  • Configure and manage job schedulers such as Slurm and PBS, including queue setup, resource policies, and job optimization.
  • Support containerized workloads using Docker, Podman, and Singularity/Apptainer.
  • Assist with cluster provisioning, node management, and initial build-out, including scheduler configuration and validation.
  • Troubleshoot hardware, operating system, scheduler, networking, and high-performance interconnect issues such as InfiniBand.
  • Integrate compute nodes and hardware into clusters.
  • Develop automation and operational tools using Bash, Python, or similar scripting languages.
  • Support authentication and access control through LDAP or Kerberos.
  • Analyze performance and identify bottlenecks across compute, storage, and network layers for distributed workloads using MPI/OpenMP.
  • Support GPU-enabled environments and CUDA-based workloads.
  • Coordinate with engineering teams to improve cluster performance, stability, and scalability.
  • Maintain documentation for configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting.
  • Provide technical guidance on high-performance computing best practices for mission workloads.
Desired Qualifications
  • Experience administering multi-node high-performance computing clusters and supporting distributed workloads.
  • Knowledge of parallel file systems such as Lustre, BeeGFS, or GPFS.
  • Experience with parallel computing frameworks such as MPI or OpenMP.
  • Experience with configuration management tools such as Ansible or Puppet.
  • Experience supporting GPU-enabled environments and CUDA workloads.
  • Familiarity with hybrid high-performance computing architectures combining on-premises and cloud environments, such as AWS.
  • Experience supporting high-performance computing systems in research, laboratory, or mission environments.
  • Experience working in Department of Defense or Intelligence Community environments.
