Requirements
  • An Associate's Degree is required, or equivalent qualifications may be accepted.
  • At least 5 years of progressive work experience in a clinical laboratory is required; alternatives include an Associate's Degree with 2 years of experience or a high school education with 4 years of experience.
  • State licensure and/or professional certification through the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification or equivalent is required at hire or must be attained within one year of hire.
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulations, medical laws, ethical standards, quality assurance protocols, and safety protocols is required.
Responsibilities
  • Oversee and optimize specimen intake and processing to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant laboratory operations.
  • Recruit, mentor, and manage departmental staff while fostering accountability, continuous improvement, and professional growth.
  • Address performance issues constructively and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Aid in designing and implementing policies and procedures aligned with healthcare regulations, medical laws, and ethical standards.
  • Ensure consistent adherence to quality assurance protocols.
  • Partner with cross-functional healthcare teams to enhance patient flow, resolve customer service concerns, and support integrated care delivery.
  • Ensure ongoing professional development opportunities for care team members.
  • Maintain a high-functioning central receiving department that supports clinical excellence and a positive patient experience.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Bachelor's Degree is preferred.
  • Previous supervisory experience is preferred.
