Requirements
  • Satisfactory completion of formal training in an approved School of Radiologic Technology and 4 years of work experience within the field of Imaging Sciences, with at least 2 years dedicated to MRI, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Maintain current New York State licensure upon hire.
  • Maintain American Registry of Radiologic Technologists certification with continuing education credits as required upon hire.
Responsibilities
  • Participate in the management of the technical, administrative, quality, and personnel management functions of the imaging section.
  • Provide general supervision and technical support to the Imaging section, functioning at the highest level of a staff technologist as needed.
  • Provide direction to Imaging technical and support staff to ensure smooth and compliant operation of the assigned area, working with nursing, clerical, information technology, faculty, and staff to achieve productive, efficient, and safe patient throughput while maintaining customer and patient/family satisfaction.
  • Keep abreast of developments within magnetic resonance imaging and imaging sciences, act as a subject matter expert in downtime procedures, and serve as a super-user when new equipment or programs are introduced.
  • Oversee daily operations with accountability for the professional conduct and technical performance of personnel, counseling and directing personnel as needed.
  • Serve as a clinical consultant to MRI staff by providing real-time guidance to ensure high-quality imaging and patient safety guidelines are met.
  • Adjust equipment and determine proper imaging techniques to produce high-quality images; review data for accuracy, troubleshoot problems and discrepancies, and report them to relevant parties.
  • Assist with personnel assignment scheduling, timekeeping, and payroll functions, and participate in interviews and performance reviews.
  • Escalate and respond to patient care concerns and report issues to senior leadership as appropriate.
  • Manage inventory and compliance of all MRI equipment and complete daily calibration of imaging equipment according to manufacturer guidance and Joint Commission standards.
  • Participate in meetings and committees, prepare the department for regulatory surveys, and encourage staff education to improve the quality of care delivered in Imaging Services.
