Freedom Solar Power is looking for a Commercial Energy Storage Program Director to work closely with sales, operations, and engineering teams to establish and expand Freedom Solar’s commercial energy storage program. Your responsibilities will include developing processes, training teams, and overseeing all commercial energy storage projects, ensuring accurate proposals, sizing tools, and streamlined workflows. You’ll also be tasked with managing risk factors such as pricing, insurance, and legal aspects. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in energy storage systems, including modeling tools and capabilities like backup and peak demand savings. Success in this role hinges on strong communication and collaboration skills.
Job Duties:
- Lead cross-functional collaboration between sales, operations, and engineering teams to establish and expand Freedom Solar’s commercial energy storage program.
- Develop and implement streamlined processes for the efficient execution of commercial energy storage projects, ensuring consistency and quality across installations.
- Train and mentor teams on best practices for commercial energy storage project management, ensuring staff are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge.
- Oversee the development of accurate proposals that effectively communicate the savings and benefits of energy storage systems to clients.
- Create tools and resources for accurately sizing energy storage systems, taking into account various project requirements and client needs.
- Design and implement a comprehensive workflow for every stage of the project lifecycle, from initial lead generation to system commissioning.
- Mitigate risk associated with energy storage projects by refining expectation setting, pricing strategies, and insurance requirements.
- Collaborate with legal teams to develop standard contract formats and terms to limit risk exposure for Freedom Solar.
- Refine pricing strategies to ensure profitability while maintaining competitiveness in the market.
- Implement processes for onsite evaluations, ensuring thorough documentation of site information and feasibility assessments, and potentially supervise installations and commissioning activities.
- Develop operation and maintenance requirements for energy storage systems, determining whether these will be included in standard contracts or offered as additional services by Freedom Solar or other vendors.

Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, with a preference for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) disciplines such as Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering, or similar.
- At least 7 years of relevant experience in the renewable energy industry, with a focus on commercial energy storage projects.
- Proven experience in project management, preferably with a track record of successfully managing large-scale projects from conception to completion.
- Strong background in energy storage systems, including knowledge of modeling tools, system capabilities, and industry best practices.
- 25% travel expected.
