Requirements
  • A minimum of an Associate's degree in Interior Design or a related discipline.
  • At least six years of related experience.
  • Experience with AutoCAD 2010 or later.
  • Experience with Autodesk Revit.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and time management skills.
Responsibilities
  • Work with staff on space planning, architectural interior design, and design review and coordination for renovated new and existing space within NCI office buildings and biomedical research facilities.
  • Conduct space surveys and provide expert advice and guidance regarding survey areas and the information to be gathered.
  • Plan and develop interior spaces while considering function, user needs, building codes, durability, life cycle costs, energy use, aesthetics, and budget.
  • Advise staff on interior design factors, including space planning, layout and utilization of furnishings and equipment, materials, and color selection.
  • Review schematic design, design development, and construction drawings for compliance with specifications.
  • Work with staff on the design and placement of ergonomic equipment.
  • Confer with clients to determine factors affecting the planning of interior environments, including budget, architectural preferences, purpose, and function.
  • Coordinate relocation projects with on-site move management staff.
  • Develop working knowledge of the NCI OSFM Computer Aided Facilities Management system, VisionFM.
  • Coordinate furniture procurement and installation with outside vendors.
  • Review surveys submitted by contract staff with other appropriate staff members.
  • Use computer-aided drafting and related software to produce planning and construction documents.
  • Review shop drawings.
  • Maintain furniture inventory for reuse and retrofit of existing space.
  • Ensure that all drawings follow appropriate standards and guidelines.
  • Coordinate with trades, including contractors, architects, and engineers.
  • Conduct reviews to ensure that space is assigned and used according to its original intent and the capabilities of the overall building structure and layout.
  • Develop work products and documents for short-term and long-range strategic planning related to NCI space data, real property, and personal property assets.
