Requirements
  • The Licensed Practical Nurse must be licensed as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of Illinois and be in good standing.
  • The nursing license must be active and unencumbered in accordance with the department and professional regulation.
  • Must be CPR certified.
Responsibilities
  • Provide nursing care according to physician’s orders and recognized nursing techniques and procedures, established standards, and administrative policies.
  • Maintain accurate and complete records of nursing observations and care.
  • Perform all functions in compliance with CDC, OSHA, JCAHO, and state and federal regulatory bodies.
  • Communicate and interpret the goals of care to residents and their families or caregivers.
  • Provide direct nursing care to clients and manage the day-to-day activities performed by Certified Nursing Assistants as a team.
  • Ensure that client needs are met within professional standards of practice and according to physician orders.
  • Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders.
  • Assist clients in meeting their goals through assessment and monitoring of care needs and interaction with the interdisciplinary team, including the physician.
  • Provide education and guidance to clients and their families on disease processes and management.
  • Manage Certified Nursing Assistants in accordance with current rules, regulations, guidelines, policies, and procedures established by Providence Life Services.
  • Document in nurses’ notes in an informative and descriptive manner that reflects the care provided and the resident’s response to care.
  • Identify the resident before administering any medication or treatment.
  • Ensure adequate medical supplies are available to meet patients’ medical needs and report supply needs to the Director of Nursing or Administrator.
  • Provide direction and leadership to Certified Nursing Assistant staff.
  • Receive and review nursing reports at the beginning of the shift and compile nursing reports at the end of the shift.
  • Assess changes in residents’ medical conditions and report them to the proper authority.
  • Ensure care is provided in accordance with federal and state regulations and residents’ wishes.
  • Monitor vital signs in accordance with residents’ treatment plans.
Desired Qualifications
  • BLS certification is strongly preferred.
