We’ve recently shifted our focus from manual testing to a concerted effort for test automation across our products. We’re striving to deliver software much more continuously than we ever have, and streamlining our testing processes will play a key role in helping us get there. We’re creating a new team to consolidate test engineering functions for several teams under a single leader, with the goal of establishing standards for test planning, biasing towards automation, and carving out career opportunities for test engineers at MLB. We’re looking for a Director of Test Engineering to lead this mission-critical team and help build the foundation of applications used by millions of fans to enjoy baseball for many years to come.
In this role you will:

Lead a team of test engineers passionate about solving challenging technical problems and delivering great products

Develop and execute a technical strategy for test automation as a function for rapid delivery without sacrificing product quality.

Build and grow your team, adjusting the team structure and working processes as needed to set them up for success

Establish quality metrics for your products with the goal of improving them over time

Collaborate with product, design, and engineering peers to prioritize projects and efforts across all of the teams your group supports

Refine release management processes to ensure quality standards are consistently met

Mentor and coach for engineers both in your team and across the organization

Be a leading voice and advocate for our quality engineering in senior leadership discussions
You are:

A seasoned engineering manager having 5+ years of experience leading test engineering teams

Recently removed from a hands-on test engineering/QA role focused on consumer-facing native mobile and web applications

Well-versed in automation technologies with previous experience building automation from the ground up

A strong leader and motivator who empowers their teams to do their best work

Well-versed in modern Agile methodologies

Passionate about building delightful products and experiences

Per the NYC pay transparency law, the hiring range for this position is $180,000 to $220,000.
As a candidate for this position, your salary and related elements of compensation will be contingent upon your work experience, education, skills and any other factors Major League Baseball (MLB) considers relevant to the hiring decision. In addition to your salary, MLB believes in providing a competitive compensation and benefits package for its employees.
