Charter CFO joins $5B Blackstone-Google AI venture as finance talent shifts to infrastructure boom

Charter Communications CFO Jessica Fischer is leaving to join a Blackstone- and Google-backed venture building AI computing infrastructure. Fischer, who spent nearly a decade at Charter, will become CFO of the joint venture in October. Blackstone and Google announced the partnership in May, with Blackstone committing an initial $5 billion in equity. The venture aims to build 500 megawatts of capacity by 2027 and plans substantial expansion beyond that target. Fischer, 41, joined Charter as corporate treasurer in 2017 and became CFO in 2021. Charter's chief accounting officer Kevin Howard will serve as interim CFO whilst the company searches for a permanent replacement. The move reflects how AI infrastructure development is attracting senior finance talent from established industries. Fischer brings experience managing large-scale infrastructure investments to a sector requiring significant upfront capital deployment.

Blackstone leads $27M round in Israeli cyber startup Huskeys building AI layer for web firewalls

Israeli cybersecurity startup Huskeys has raised $27 million in a funding round led by US investment giant Blackstone, bringing total funding to $35 million. The company is developing an agentic AI layer for web application firewalls, technology it argues needs updating for an era of autonomous AI agents. Investors include Skinos Ventures, Shlomo Kramer's Yishay Yovel fund, and investment arms of Okta and Zscaler, alongside executives from Google, Microsoft, Palo Alto Networks, and other tech firms. Okta and Zscaler have formed strategic partnerships with Huskeys. Founded by Unit 8200 alumni Itai Gafni and Roy Weissfeld, the company has secured customers including TikTok, Legoland, and Hugging Face since emerging from stealth five months ago.

Nvidia partners with Blackstone and 5 firms to mobilise $500B for AI infrastructure

NVIDIA announced partnerships with Blackstone, Apollo, BlackRock, Brookfield, Goldman Sachs and KKR in August 2026 to create AI compute financing platforms targeting over $500 billion in third-party capital for AI infrastructure. Final agreements remain pending. The same month, Blackstone was reportedly evaluating a potential $1.50 billion to $2.00 billion acquisition of Indian renewables platform Blupine Energy from Actis. The moves highlight Blackstone's focus on digital infrastructure and energy transition assets. Analysts note the NVIDIA partnership aligns with Blackstone's existing data centre and private credit commitments, potentially deepening its AI infrastructure financing role. However, concerns about interest rates, deal flow, and market volatility persist. Blackstone's narrative projects $22.5 billion revenue and $9.8 billion earnings by 2029.
