Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
  • At least 5 years of professional experience in performing finite element analysis
  • Strong understanding of structural mechanics, material properties, and stress analysis
  • Proficiency in ANSYS Workbench and Classic, and SpaceClaim
  • Ability to program in APDL and to script in Python
  • Experience pre- and post-processing of large computational models in a product development environment
  • Solid background in performing structural hand calculations
  • Experience performing fatigue and fracture analysis in metallic structures
  • Familiarity with industry codes and standards (e.g., ASME) related to structural design and analysis
  • Experience using DOE or other statistical methods to efficiently evaluate design spaces and robustness
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Effective communication skills to convey complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Willingness to travel or work required nights/weekends/on-call occasionally
Responsibilities
  • Conduct finite element analysis simulations to assess and optimize the performance of SPARC components
  • Develop detailed finite element models and meshing strategies
  • Perform hand calculations and verification of FEA results
  • Collaborate with design and physics teams
  • Interpret, analyze, and present calculation results
  • Generate comprehensive reports and documentation
  • Contribute to tool and workflow development
