Requirements
  • Ability to read and interpret documents, drawings, and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate clearly with others in writing and verbally, write reports, and occasionally speak in group settings with customers and employees.
  • Ability to accurately calculate proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume, and apply basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to interpret written, oral, or diagram-based instructions, determine root causes of problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Competence in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Microsoft Excel.
Responsibilities
  • Estimate screen printing, retail signage fabrication, and digital imaging production costs by analyzing sketches, drawings, specifications, proposals, and other documents to prepare time, cost, labor, profit percentage, and material estimates.
  • Review customer order specifications and established manufacturing procedures to determine finished routing of customer orders to manufacturing.
  • Ensure the timeliness and accuracy of manufacturing orders and act as liaison between Account Managers and manufacturing.
  • Receive requests for quotes from Account Managers and prepare estimates.
  • Gather artwork, drawings, specifications, and other related materials needed to estimate jobs.
  • Work with internal and external customers to formulate estimates and provide suggestions and opinions.
  • Create bills of material and routings using knowledge of products and printing techniques for estimating and releasing manufacturing orders.
  • Compute cost estimates and price summaries for specified jobs and present prepared estimates.
  • Request supplier material pricing through Purchasing and secure pricing from approved outside vendors as needed.
  • Maintain technical knowledge through workshops, seminars, Federal Heath Lean University courses, and other assigned courses.
  • Receive or generate and verify production orders, including quoted layouts, drawings or specifications, and routing sequences.
  • Review production orders with the assigned Account Manager for both new and repeat orders.
  • Determine production routings for new orders by referencing layouts, presses, materials, tooling, and ink using established production guidelines.
  • Review prior production routings for repeat orders for accuracy regarding layouts, presses, materials, tooling, and ink.
  • Review material availability and determine whether materials must be ordered; complete purchase requisitions when needed.
  • Maintain production and customer files accurately regarding job materials and plans.
  • Complete required print work packets before releasing jobs to manufacturing.
  • Advise the department manager of potential delays, evaluate production changes, review them with department employees or supervisors, and update job-file records.
  • Maintain a lean and clean work area.
  • Follow applicable ISO estimating and production-planning procedures and work instructions.
Desired Qualifications
  • Three to five years of related experience and/or training in screen printing or digital imaging estimating and production planning is helpful.
