As a Software Engineer with Nextdoor, Inc. (San Francisco, CA) (100% Telecommuting permitted) you’ll:
- Work across multiple phases of software development life cycle within a project to design, code, test and document large, complex software requirements for new or enhanced applications.
- Design, build and maintain high-performance components and sub-systems for a highly scalable and reliable data services and infrastructure that power software platform used across businesses.
- Work with engineering teams and neighborhood operations teams to define features and partner with information system team members regarding business applications.
- Develop and improve frameworks across the front-end and back-end services.
- Work with the team to leverage a variety of backend languages and frameworks, including Python/Django, Java, Golang, SQL, and AWS.
- Gather and analyze requirements from various stakeholders and provide solution designs, and then develop and test these designs.
What You’ll Bring to The House
- Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or closely related technical discipline.
- Two (2) years of progressive post-bachelor’s experience in the position offered or as a Software Developer, or closely related position.
- Must have demonstrated experience in the following: Utilizing software development processes at all levels of software delivery lifecycle (requirements gathering, documentation, design, development, code review, testing and production support); Utilizing Python, Django, and Javascript to build highly scalable applications to meet business requirements; Utilizing servers and analytic search engines to design and maintain application scalability; Developing Application Program Interfacing using programming languages, such as Python, Django, JavaScript, Node.js, Flask, or Scala; and Developing and prototyping user Interface using Javascript, jQuery and React.

The starting salary for this role is expected to range from $144,000 - $198,000/year on an annualized basis.
We also expect to award a meaningful equity grant for this role. With equal quarterly vesting, your first vest date would be within the first 3 months of your start date.
Overall, total compensation will vary depending on your relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
