Requirements
  • A bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, agriculture, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job.
  • NMLS registration is required.
  • Demonstrated understanding of mortgage processing, underwriting, and closing procedures.
  • Strong listening, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate at all levels of the organization.
  • Skill in developing and maintaining interpersonal relationships.
  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office applications and customer relationship management programs.
  • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail.

Responsibilities
  • Originate home, recreational land or bare land, and home site loans in rural areas and communities.
  • Maintain acceptable levels of loan unit and volume origination while building professional and client relationships and maintaining high client satisfaction.
  • Combine mortgage and business knowledge with an in-depth understanding of each client's financial position to provide workable alternatives that support client goals.
  • Market Compeer products and services to industry partners and prospective clients based on their wants and needs.
  • Develop a referral network of realtors, builders, consumer-direct contacts, other financial service providers, and internal team members.
  • Service hobby farms, rural properties, and conforming properties.
  • Proactively market and sell credit and related services and establish new market relationships that contribute to organizational goals and business objectives.
  • Create a networking and prospecting strategy suitable for servicing the assigned territory and aligned with branding and marketing protocols.
  • Maintain positive client relations, community recognition, and contributions to the company's image.
  • Monitor and appropriately use the discretionary marketing budget throughout the year.
  • Originate loans by proactively seeking applications.
  • Gather income information and verify financials.
  • Determine appropriate loan programs and terms to meet client needs.
  • Work with credit and processing teams to secure credit decisions and timely closings.
  • Act as a liaison between clients, company operations members, and certain third parties.
  • Maintain client relationships through frequent interactions and periodic sales calls.
  • Deliver value-added informational services to clients.
  • Discuss loan programs and terms.
  • Address client concerns throughout the loan process.
  • Build and maintain a strong understanding of consumer lending practices.
  • Maintain and build local knowledge of the assigned local service area.
  • Learn clients' goals and help implement them within the rural marketplace.
  • Develop and maintain a significant professional presence in the local community.
  • Provide formal group presentations and information workshops on rural living solutions topics and issues.
  • Maintain active involvement in related professional groups.

So should insurers and agricultural lenders offer farmers that look after their soil a ‘good soil discount’?. While it’s generally understood that cover cropping, reduced tillage, and crop rotations benefit soil, these practices are by no means ubiquitous, not least because there are high upfront costs, the benefits don’t come overnight, and there are no immediate financial incentives, says soil health nonprofit Land Core.
