Responsibilities
  • Ensure that client facilities are operated and maintained cost-effectively, safely, and efficiently according to the Statement of Work and management contract.
  • Manage the financial and operational performance of a facility or group of facilities within a region.
  • Serve as the primary representative for day-to-day contact with the client and tenants regarding contract performance.
  • Manage a portfolio of properties across Canada for a specific client user base.
  • Act as the single point of contact for a portfolio of properties and facility-related requests.
  • Manage customer relationships and provide proactive communications.
  • Build relationships with end users and serve as a trusted partner to the assigned line of business or client.
  • Create client presentations showcasing trends, insights, and recommendations supporting facility operations.
  • Respond to incidents and ensure timely resolution of facility requests through proactive communication.
  • Coordinate with third parties, internal parties, and client parties to deliver holistic, timely, cost-effective solutions.
  • Provide a high-touch service level for a portfolio of properties.
  • Manage escalations according to client expectations.
  • Develop operating and maintenance budgets, transaction-related budgets, and capital project expenditure budgets, and defend the underlying logic to superiors and clients.
  • Use financial reports to perform monthly budget analysis and reforecast allocations as necessary.
  • Meet annual targets according to contractual performance indicators.
  • Manage facilities totaling approximately 500,000 square feet.
  • Oversee and monitor work orders, escalations, preventive maintenance activities, incidents, and small projects.
  • Liaise with clients and tenants on day-to-day facility-management activities.
  • Develop and maintain preventive and corrective maintenance schedules and perform maintenance to preserve the integrity and value of building systems and architectural components.
  • Ensure compliance with corporate and legislated policies, procedures, practices, and guidelines related to environmental matters, building codes, and health and safety.
  • Prepare tender documents and requests for proposals, conduct tenders, and analyze bids.
  • Negotiate terms and prepare contract documents.
  • Approve service contracts within the authorized authority level.
  • Monitor subcontractor performance.
  • Prepare strategic property analyses considering financial indicators, market analysis, and long-term project plans.
  • Monitor client service-level requests to ensure they remain within contract scope and prepare service-level change orders as required.
  • Perform annual inspections of all sites and evaluate the condition of building components.
  • Develop project plans for future maintenance activities and contribute them to capital planning.
  • Evaluate tenant requests and recommend cost-saving or otherwise beneficial alternatives.
  • Monitor contract service-performance indicators and develop action plans for deviations.
  • Meet all service-level performance indicators.
  • Perform simple cost-benefit analyses.
  • Supervise team members and facility managers by directing activities, establishing goals and objectives, conducting performance evaluations, and communicating the operational vision for operations and maintenance.

Veritas Capital to acquire facilities manager BGIS. July 17, 2026 | John McNulty Veritas Capital has agreed to acquire BGIS from CCMP Capital Advisors and Alberta Investment Management Corporation (AIMCo). BGIS runs and maintains buildings and facilities - offices, data centers, and government, healthcare, and industrial sites - for large public and private organizations, handling the engineering, operations, and technology that keep those properties running, a service known in the industry as technical integrated facilities management (IFM). The company oversees more than 65,000 facilities totaling over 620 million square feet globally with a team of more than 12,000. Gord Hicks continues as chief executive officer and will lead the business with his management team. CCMP and AIMCo had backed BGIS since 2019. Veritas Capital, a technology investor focused on companies operating at the intersection of technology and government, manages over $54 billion in assets. James Dimitri, partner and co-head of flagship private equity at Veritas, led the transaction for the firm.
