Funding Circle runs a peer-to-peer lending platform that connects small businesses seeking loans with investors, bypassing traditional banks. Borrowers submit online loan requests and investors fund parts of the loan; the platform provides credit assessment, risk scoring, and ongoing loan management. It differentiates itself from competitors with its scale, international expansion, and a London IPO in 2018, operating as a marketplace rather than originating loans itself. Its goal is to help small businesses access finance more efficiently while giving investors a straightforward way to deploy capital and earn returns, supported by ongoing technology improvements.

Funding Circle secures $635M commitment from Castlelake to fund UK SMEs

The partnership introduces Castlelake as a new investor on Funding Circle's platform, further diversifying its institutional funding base. Funding Circle launches a new mobile app, giving FlexiPay and Card customers greater financial control and on-the-go flexibility.

Funding Circle launches a new mobile app, giving FlexiPay and Card customers greater financial control and on-the-go flexibility. * Payments * 06.08.2026 10:47 am Funding Circle, the UK's leading SME finance platform, today launches its new mobile application ("app"). Designed to provide a seamless customer experience, the latest app provides small businesses with a fast, intuitive, and centralised platform to manage their FlexiPay and Card products, from anywhere. Small businesses are operating at pace, and the new app offers them an optimised mobile experience to manage finances easily. Built to make on the go management seamless, FlexiPay customers can draw down funds, pay business bills, or settle up with HMRC instantly. By securely storing supplier details in one place, the app streamlines recurring supplier payments, removing the need to re-enter account information for invoices, while giving SMEs flexibility to spread payments over time to support their cash flow. Cashback card customers gain real-time visibility and streamlined card management, making it easier to track cashback, monitor upcoming Direct Debits, and control company cards directly from the app. The app uses minimal mobile data and loads account information instantly. To support seamless multitasking, FlexiPay customers' payment progress is saved as the app remembers what the user was doing so they can pick up where they left off. Tim Trailor, Managing Director, Cards said, "Small businesses are constantly on the move and to support their busy working days, we are excited to bring this new app to SMEs, making it easier for them to manage their finances, on the go, quickly and easily with everything they need in one place. This launch sets a strong new foundation for our mobile experience, and we look forward to rolling out future developments." Funding Circle continues to strengthen its support for UK SMEs by leveraging its proprietary capabilities in credit and product innovation to scale its product offering and say yes to more businesses. This mobile app expansion is an example of the platform delivering a superior customer experience to become the trusted financial partner for small businesses, ensuring that busy business owners have access to the right financial products at the right time. The new Funding Circle mobile application is available on both the App Store and Google Play.

Funding Circle surges after strong H1 showing.

Funding Circle surges after strong H1 showing. Thu, 16th Jul 2026 09:48 (Sharecast News) - Fintech firm Funding Circle was up double digits in early trade after posting a strong first-half performance, with rapid revenue and profit growth and clear momentum across both its Term Loans and FlexiPay/Card businesses. Funding Circle said revenues rose 50% to about £138m, while pre-tax profits climbed to roughly £23m, up sharply from £6m a year earlier. Credit extended increased to £1.7bn, and assets under management grew to £3.3bn, reflecting broad-based demand and a full-period contribution from its shorter-term loan product launched late last year. The FTSE 250-listed firm stated SME demand was strong in Q1 before normalising in Q2 ahead of the quieter summer period. Term Loans originations rose to £1.05bn, with the division continuing to show strong operating leverage and cash generation, and Funding Circle said this had enabled increased investment in FlexiPay and Card, where transactions surged 71% to £640m. Unrestricted cash increased to £136m, supported by trading performance and monetisation of the shorter-term loan portfolio, partly offset by the ongoing buyback. Funding Circle said the results had left it firmly on track to meet FY26 guidance of revenues of at least £235m and pre-tax profits of no less than £35m. It also added that the group remains capital-light, with £72m of shares repurchased to date under its buyback programmes, equivalent to 18% of issued share capital. Chief executive Lisa Jacobs said: "It's been another standout six months for Funding Circle. London South East Limited has built upon last year's momentum with strong revenue and profit growth, driven by its continued product development and market demand. Small businesses power the UK economy, driving innovation, creating jobs and fuelling regional growth. London South East Limited is proud to have helped a record number of businesses in H1 access the finance they need to win. "We remain focused on profitable growth - backing even more small businesses across the UK with the funding they need to succeed." As of 0945 BST, Funding Circle shares had shot up 16.55% at 206.28p.
