Requirements
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Public Trust clearance prior to starting; candidates are not required to be cleared at the time of application.
  • Authorization to work in the United States.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fully remote environment.
  • A paralegal certificate is required; only the Contracting Officer can approve a waiver.
  • At least three years of litigation paralegal experience, including trial experience.
  • At least one year of experience in automated litigation support.
  • Supervisory experience, including the ability to interact successfully with clients and attorneys.
  • Sound working knowledge of federal and state court systems, legal research procedures, and legal research resources.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and thorough knowledge of legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw.
  • Hands-on familiarity with computer applications, including word processing, databases such as document review and file management systems, spreadsheets, and imaging.
  • Ability to deliver high-quality work under extreme pressure.
Responsibilities
  • Monitor work and report on progress.
  • Ensure that paralegal and support staff work meets contract and attorney requirements and is delivered on time.
  • Troubleshoot and perform quality-control spot checks.
  • Formulate administrative and technical procedures for completing the work.
  • Report to the Project Supervisor or Project Manager and maintain contact with the Contracting Officer's Representative, Government Case Manager, trial attorneys and staff, client agency staff, and opposing counsel.
  • Perform complex legal and factual research.
  • Design and develop systems and procedures for tracking, controlling, and managing case files, exhibits, and other case-specific materials.
  • Assist trial staff in coordinating with expert witnesses and litigation consultants.
  • Arrange access to appropriate Department of Justice libraries and other legal research facilities.
  • Coordinate with other contractor support components, including data-processing support staff, to accomplish the work.
