Requirements

  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of financial process and ability to work within a budget
  • Able to take data from a variety of systems to form conclusions, resulting in operational/action plans
  • Experienced in facilitating meetings, and attends regular staff meetings for areas of responsibility
  • Must be able to work as a team member and be able to communicate effectively with patients, visitors, physicians, hospital personnel, clinic staff, and administrative staff, may often require the use of significant tact in order to handle sensitive matters
  • Must be an excellent communicator in verbal and written modes
  • Must communicate well under pressure and maintain the highest level of professionalism in all situations
  • Work which produces high levels of mental/visual fatigue, e.g., interactive and repetitive or small detailed work requiring alertness and concentration for sustained periods of time, the operation of and full attention to a personal computer or CRT between 40 and 70 percent of the time.
  • The job produces some physical demands. Typical of jobs that include regular walking, standing, stooping, bending, sitting, and some lifting of light weight objects.

Responsibilities
  • Participates in the development of short- and long-term goals for the departments of responsibility, including; short and long term department planning, and patient safety planning. Develops specific plans to accomplish agreed-upon goals related to corporate effectiveness.
  • Develops and administers the budget which provides for the attainment of goals in accordance with approved plans. Develops and implements corrective action plans for variance within areas of responsibility.
  • Hires, develops, evaluates, retains, and (when necessary) disciplines and discharges subordinates.
  • Schedules and assigns work to subordinate staff; adjusts schedules and assignments to compensate for fluctuating patient load, staff shortages, workload volume, inpatient and outpatient needs and other contingencies to maintain efficient use of resources
  • Orders or delegates responsibility for ordering medications, and supplies, on a regular basis.
  • Oversees appropriate and efficient usage of supplies.
  • Responsible for compliance with standards and guidelines promulgated by accrediting and regulatory agencies for all departments of responsibility.
  • Remains abreast of developments in appropriate areas of clinical practice and management.
  • Directs the preparation of departmental records as well as recurring and special reports and analyses, ensuring that they are complete, accurate and prepared on time. Reviews and interprets them in order to ascertain the extent to which departmental goals are being attained; takes corrective action as necessary.
  • Oversees the throughput of all areas of responsibility, as well as the billing process
  • Formulates policies and standards for the departments of responsibility and secures appropriate approvals. Develops and administers procedures necessary to implement approved policies and provides the overall direction necessary to ensure efficient and effective customer focused services.
  • Maintains a culture of excellent customer service in all areas of responsibility.
  • Establishes and maintains effective work relationships with physicians, supervisors, payors, and other members of the healthcare team in order to coordinate and facilitate the delivery of optimal outpatient services; including home infusion services.
  • Investigates and resolves incidents and complaints/suggestions from physicians, patients, visitors, and staff; corrects deficiencies (if any) and prepares documentation or explanation when appropriate.
  • Regularly reviews work and care in progress in the departments of responsibility to ensure that practices conform to established procedure and is consistent with the goal of Clinical Excellence.
  • Evaluates information obtained from (a) personal observations, (b) communications with staff, (c) communications with medical and allied personnel, (d) and communications with patients and family, to assure the quality of services provided; recommends and/or implements changes in operations as needed.
  • Directly assist subordinates in execution of the most difficult and/or sensitive clinical or operational duties and responsibilities; provides counsel and guidance in unusual but less complex situations; serves as a clinical and management resource at all times.
  • Ensures the proper operation of equipment, and secures the repair and maintenance of equipment by initiating work orders or purchase requisitions.
  • Maintains a safe environment in accordance with hospital/outpatient standards, hospital policies, OSHA and other safety regulations.
  • Provides for the development and continuing education of staff by (a) identifying education needs, (b) working with the Bronson Education Department and Center for Learning for development of education programs, (c) providing for staff participation in work-related seminars and in-service programs, and (d) encouraging staff development activities.
  • Performs routine audits of clinical records to ensure appropriateness of documentation and quality of care.
  • Conducts staff meetings to ensure appropriate process for information sharing.
