Requirements
  • A minimum of three years of experience working as a facilities assistant or in a similar role.

Responsibilities
  • Clean designated school areas, including classrooms, offices, corridors, toilets, changing rooms, and common areas.
  • Sweep, mop, vacuum, and polish floors as required.
  • Clean and disinfect surfaces, furniture, fixtures, and fittings.
  • Empty waste bins and ensure waste is disposed of safely and appropriately.
  • Replenish consumables such as soap, toilet paper, and paper towels in toilets.
  • Clean and disinfect toilets, sinks, and bathing areas to a high hygiene standard.
  • Immediately report maintenance issues, hazards, damage, or safety concerns to the appropriate person.
  • Use cleaning chemicals, equipment, and materials safely and in accordance with health and safety regulations and school procedures.
  • Keep cleaning equipment in good condition and store it safely after use.
  • Support deep-cleaning activities during school holidays or scheduled maintenance periods.
  • Help maintain safe access routes during adverse weather conditions, such as by clearing entrances.
  • Follow safeguarding, health, and safety procedures while on school premises.
  • Work cooperatively with colleagues and contribute to a positive school environment.
  • Comply with and promote school policies and procedures, including health and safety and safeguarding policies.
  • Work with the principal, facilities manager, and head of administration and share ideas about good practice.
  • Stay up to date with developments in the school calendar.
  • Remain flexible with working hours to ensure the school is opened and closed during events and meetings, respond to emergency calls, and take necessary action.
  • Participate in continuing professional development.
  • Actively support the school's vision, values, and commitment to continuous improvement and learning opportunities.
  • Take holidays and leave only with prior authorization and agreement with the principal and facilities manager.
  • Work independently for significant periods and demonstrate responsibility, professionalism, and initiative.
  • Complete required vetting procedures, including online due diligence, references, and satisfactory criminal background checks or equivalent covering the previous 10 years of employment history.

  • A good level of English is preferred but not essential.
