Celebrating Youth Apprenticeship Week. When it comes to shaping the construction industry, Michels Corporation is always looking ahead - and that includes developing future talent. Through its Youth Apprenticeship Program, engagement with local schools, and other community partnerships, Michels is helping to prepare the next generation of skilled labor. Michels Corporation is proud to recognize its youth apprentices and its people who make these opportunities possible during Youth Apprenticeship Week, April 26-May 2, 2026. Earlier this year, Michels received the Community Unity Award for its Youth Apprenticeship Program and other initiatives that introduce young people to construction careers. The honor was bestowed by the Cooperative Educational Service Agency 6 (CESA 6) as part of their 2026 Wisconsin Youth Apprenticeship Partner Awards. Michels' youth apprentices gain invaluable hands-on experience under the mentorship of its experienced team members. Apprentices not only learn new skills and explore their interests, but also build confidence to help them succeed in their chosen career path. Each year, Michels Corporation conduct dozens of K-12 school visits to introduce young people to the industry as well as present opportunities at Michels to older students, including internships and summer seasonal positions. Michels Corporation also invite high school students into the yard at its headquarters in Brownsville, WI for its annual Career Exploration Event. Bridge repair project receives partnership award. While Michels Corporation is continuously building bridges with its partners and communities, sometimes this takes a more literal mindset. Such was the case with an emergency bridge repair project Michels Corporation completed last year. For its work on the project, Michels was named a 2026 Baldwin Group Build America Award Winner in the Marvin M. Black Excellence in Partnering and Collaboration Project under $20M category by the Associated General Contractors (AGC) of America. After Hurricane Helene damaged a historic bridge over the Doe River in Elizabethton, TN, Michels, in collaboration with Dan Brown & Associates, LLC, implemented a comprehensive plan to restore the 1929 structure. Two footings experienced settlement due to erosion during the hurricane, causing a 70-foot section of the bridge deck surrounding the pier to subside. Crews worked rapidly to stabilize existing footings to prevent further structural damage, delivering a more robust permanent foundation. Two methods for installing micropiles accelerated the project schedule while preserving architecture important to the city. Thanks to a seven-point sequential lift using a shoring system, the bridge was lifted in 27 controlled cycles. After new pier footing was poured, damage caused by the settlement was repaired. The bridge, essential for daily commutes, tourism, and commerce, was restored ahead of schedule without negative impacts to its aesthetics or functionality. The project's success was made possible through open communication, proactive engagement, and a culture of shared accountability. TC Energy has officially announced commercial in-service of its Wisconsin Reliability Project (WRP), a $700 million natural gas pipeline initiative designed to enhance energy security and reliability, drive economic growth and reduce emissions across Midwest communities. During construction, WRP generated approximately $1.1 billion in economic output, supported over 4,300 jobs, and contributed $68 million in tax revenue to Wisconsin - laying the groundwork for sustained regional growth and prosperity. WRP is an important step toward addressing Wisconsin's projected 45 per cent surge in natural gas demand by 2035, driven by manufacturing expansion and economic development. The project has proactively upgraded and expanded key sections of the ANR Pipeline system across Wisconsin and northern Illinois to meet growing demand and position the region for future economic and industrial development. Construction on WRP began in 2024, following two years of extensive community engagement and regulatory approvals. The project replaced approximately 51 miles of aging pipeline across Wisconsin and northern Illinois with state-of-the-art infrastructure to enhance the safety, efficiency and reliability of natural gas transportation. TC Energy also upgraded compression facilities at Kewaskum and Weyauwega stations and enhanced meter stations in six Wisconsin communities as part of the project. WRP entered commercial service on Nov. 1, 2025.
