Requirements
  • A Master’s Degree in a behavioral science field from an accredited college or university.
  • Demonstrated competencies required by the Oregon Administrative Rules to become credentialed as a Qualified Mental Health Professional.
  • At least one year of experience working with children, adolescents, and families, providing a broad range of clinical intervention and completing mental health assessments.
  • The ability to conduct a Mental Status assessment and formulate a diagnosis according to the most current Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders.
  • Advanced knowledge of risk assessment and crisis intervention.
  • Understanding of evidence-based practices and strength-based case management philosophies and strategies, including trauma-informed care.
  • The ability to operate computer hardware and software at the level needed to perform job functions effectively.
  • A valid driver’s license, three-year driving history, clean driving record, successful completion of a Driver Motor Vehicle check, and completion of the Cascadia online Defensive Driving course.
  • The ability to drive a personal or company vehicle to complete work duties.
  • The ability to quickly assess and respond to concerns related to interpersonal and environmental safety.
  • The ability to communicate quickly and accurately with police agencies in emergent situations.
  • The ability to maintain confidentiality, work independently and as part of a team, engage internal and external providers and stakeholders, and demonstrate professional dependability.

Responsibilities
  • Complete a service plan in collaboration with youth and families for each youth referred to the Family Crisis Stabilization Specialist team.
  • Assess youths’ protective and risk factors and family capabilities and resources to guide intervention.
  • Assist youth and families in seeking community resources and using natural supports to meet identified needs.
  • Collaborate with child- and youth-serving systems to ensure effective cooperation toward youth and family goals.
  • Provide guidance and support to other clinicians in providing services to youth and families.
  • Coordinate or provide immediate mobile responses to individuals on the caseload experiencing mental health crises in Multnomah County.
  • Identify and assess risk factors for harm to self or others through client interviews and consideration of collateral information.
  • Consider and articulate potential outcomes, risks, and benefits of interventions; formulate the rationale for the selected course of action; and choose the least intrusive and most supportive intervention.
  • Initiate involuntary transport holds for individuals deemed at risk of harm to self or others in accordance with County guidelines.
  • Coordinate crisis responses with community agencies and service providers.
  • Provide assessment dispositions to treatment providers and emergency departments as appropriate.
  • Assess personal safety in the environment and request law enforcement support as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with law enforcement agencies to determine intervention risk and develop plans for approaching clients in crisis.
  • Consult with teammates, supervisors, program managers, and program medical directors as appropriate.
  • Respect client rights and responsibilities and maintain professional boundaries and ethics.
  • Adhere to mandatory abuse-reporting laws and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act requirements.
  • Document and maintain electronic health records and ancillary records in compliance with agency policies, program procedures, and local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Maintain responsibility for the safety of consumers, staff, and property, including familiarity with fire regulations and evacuation procedures.
  • Complete required annual employee training and attend seminars, trainings, and other educational opportunities.
  • Participate in scheduled staff meetings, supervision sessions, and departmental and agency meetings.
  • Promote integrated care and trauma-informed, person-first approaches while supporting an inclusive, safe, and accepting work environment.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience, preferably in a nonprofit organization.
  • Two years of experience after licensure.
  • The ability to supervise master’s-level interns.
