Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering or equivalent from an ABET accredited or equivalent program.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in performing battery pack simulations for Crash Safety, NVH, and Durability.
  • Strong experience with CAE Tools: LS-Dyna, Abaqus, Nastran, ANSA/META, Hyperview/Hypermesh.
  • Knowledge of typical battery pack components, their functions, and requirements.
  • Knowledge of FMVSS, USNCAP, and IIHS battery pack requirements.
  • Knowledge of optimization tools and techniques.
  • Knowledge of applying engineering fundamentals in the development.
  • Ability to work independently from start to end.
  • Strong oral and verbal communication skills.
  • Act as a team player and problem solver.
  • Experience with correlation of CAE and Test results.
Responsibilities
  • Set subsystem and component level requirements for battery packs.
  • Work with CAE tools to lead and guide the battery design to meet the requirements.
  • Develop loadcases that satisfy the Crash Safety, Durability, and NVH requirements.
  • Use pre-processing tools like Ansa/Hypermesh to create and debug a high-fidelity battery pack FEA model.
  • Use post-processing tools such as Meta/Hyperworks to post-process the simulation results.
  • Identify the root cause of the problem and suggest recommendations for improving the design.
  • Find optimized solutions while considering integrated subsystem and component level requirements.
  • Provide guidance on the verification tests needed to confirm CAE results and be involved in testing and CAE correlation.
  • Apply advanced methods like DOE/DFSS to optimize the design.
  • Communicate the CAE results and countermeasures with the cross-functional teams by creating clear and detailed reports of the analysis.
