Requirements
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A valid driver's license is required, and the candidate must qualify for company-sponsored vehicle insurance.
  • The candidate must possess or immediately seek a commercial driver's license with a passenger bus endorsement.
  • The candidate must maintain CPR and first-aid certification.
  • The candidate must be able to obtain a bus driver's license.
  • The candidate must be able to operate office equipment.
  • The candidate must be able to read and write at a college level.
  • The role requires the physical ability to sit, stand, see, hear, speak, and drive frequently; walk, bend, stoop, squat, and maintain flexibility occasionally; and climb, lift and carry up to 50 pounds, kneel, push or pull, and run seldom.
  • The candidate must be familiar with issues affecting underprivileged and minority groups, especially youth.
Responsibilities
  • Enforce all authorized laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Transport students in a company vehicle.
  • Patrol assigned areas and remain alert for disturbances, fires, safety hazards, traffic violators, suspicious acts or persons, and other unusual conditions.
  • Assist visitors, students, and staff.
  • Maintain student accountability logs for students entering and exiting the center.
  • Perform building security and safety checks.
  • Conduct approved searches and safety and health inspections of visitors, staff, and students as necessary.
  • Receive complaints and conduct appropriate preliminary investigations.
  • Provide escort service as directed.
  • Issue visitor passes and temporary vehicle permits.
  • Participate in the disciplinary process established at the center, including enforcement of zero tolerance for violence and drugs.
  • Attend required training.
  • Provide temporary coverage in student-occupied areas such as dormitories and recreation areas when needed.
  • Work independently occasionally and interact with the team and other departments for most of the workday.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
  • Three to six months of experience in security or a related work capacity.
  • A Class B commercial driver's license with passenger and air-brake endorsements.
  • Knowledge of crowd-control techniques.
  • Knowledge of law-enforcement procedures.
  • Good writing skills.
  • Strong communication skills.
