Requirements
  • At least 3 years of experience in drone or aerospace system design and development.
  • Strong programming skills in C++ and Python.
  • Knowledge of aerodynamics, materials, and mechanical systems.
  • Familiarity with UAV hardware, software, and communication protocols.
  • Familiarity with object-oriented programming and design, development, and testing.
  • Experience developing and implementing artificial intelligence and machine learning algorithms for autonomous and real-time decision-making for UAV swarms.
  • Experience writing analysis reports and weekly reports.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, including Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat Pro.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and attention to detail.
  • U.S. citizenship.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense security clearance or favorable adjudication of a national security background investigation.
  • Ability to perform minimal travel.
Responsibilities
  • Work as an unmanned aerial vehicle engineer with the Engineering Services Division at the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Indian Head Division.
  • Design, develop, and deploy munitions-focused artificial intelligence, machine learning, and autonomy solutions using UAV technology.
  • Contribute to embedded artificial intelligence for automated target recognition and lethality optimization.
  • Contribute to the design, construction, and testing of UAV systems.
  • Work on site with the Data-Driven and Intelligent Systems Engineering team.
Desired Qualifications
  • A Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a similar field.
  • Job experience with the Navy or Department of Defense.
  • Current successful completion of a background investigation.
