Requirements
  • Five to ten years of relevant archivist and/or records-management experience.
Responsibilities
  • Inventory and analyze the 15 boxes of McManus collection materials.
  • Review official documents, reports, manuals, publications, hearings, and meeting notebooks.
  • Assess the physical condition and historical content of collection materials.
  • Determine historical value, disposition, and suitability for permanent Federal Transit Administration retention.
  • Apply archival preservation, storage, and conservation techniques.
  • Digitize photographs, maps, documents, and other historical materials.
  • Manage digital photo files already provided with the McManus collection.
  • Store digitized materials in the FTA History Hub and other FTA or Department of Transportation systems.
  • Prepare indexes, meta-tags, and material descriptions for archived content.
  • Convert paper materials into digital formats where possible.
  • Assist archive users with information retrieval and historical research.
  • Support presentations and digital content that make the collection accessible.
  • Help FTA employees, transit stakeholders, and the public access McManus materials.
  • Research McManus materials to develop web posts, displays, and presentations.
  • Author articles about Federal Transit Administration history for publication.
  • Archive related documents and update historical information on Federal Transit Administration websites.
