Requirements
  • Strong knowledge of the banking industry.

  • Six or more years of financial services industry or Commercial Banking/Retail Personal Banking experience.

  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities
  • Create and execute a written marketing plan to develop and expand a portfolio of qualified private banking client relationships through active calling efforts.
  • Identify opportunities to sell investment management products and trust services.
  • Prepare and deliver client presentations.
  • Manage a portfolio of more than $30,000,000 and up to 350 relationships.
  • Make decisions within assigned lending authority or make and defend recommendations for extensions of credit that exceed that authority.
  • Manage the banking component of client relationships to avoid principal loss.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Commerce Bank acquires boutique investment bank Nolan & Associates to expand middle-market advisory services

Commerce Bank has agreed to acquire Nolan & Associates, a St Louis-based boutique investment banking firm founded in 1976. The acquisition will add investment banking capabilities to Commerce's commercial and wealth platforms, enhancing its ability to support middle-market clients during business transitions. Nolan provides sell-side, buy-side, and capital raise advisory services across industries including building products, transportation, healthcare, and manufacturing. Upon closing, the firm will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of Commerce Bank, retaining its employees and office. The deal includes Middle-Market Transactions, Inc., a FINRA-regulated entity through which Nolan delivers advisory services. Financial terms were not disclosed. The transaction requires regulatory approval and is subject to customary closing conditions. Commerce Bancshares holds $35.7 billion in assets and operates throughout the Midwest.
