Requirements
  • 10+ years of experience in Marketing, Business Trading, or highly analytical environments, with a strong focus on data-driven decision-making.
  • Deep understanding of marketing investment strategy, with expertise in Performance Marketing, Brand Marketing, and Customer Marketing channels.
  • Proven ability to drive business outcomes through financial modelling, investment prioritization, and strategic financial planning, including forecasting, ROI modelling, and budget optimization.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with hands-on experience in scenario modelling, performance tracking, and advanced data analysis, including the designing data collection methods and articulating insights effectively.
  • Strong ability to influence senior leadership by presenting insights and strategic recommendations, using effective communication and storytelling to translate complex financial and performance data into actionable business decisions.
  • A strong team player, able to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders at different levels, fostering alignment and driving collective success.
  • Excels in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, demonstrating resilience, adaptability, and the ability to make data-driven decisions in time-sensitive situations.
  • Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business, Finance, or a related field.
Responsibilities
  • Support the Brand Marketing VP in the capital allocation process, including identifying opportunities, modeling impact, and ensuring alignment with business priorities, performance goals, and investment frameworks across Brand and Marketing channels. Engage with VP+ stakeholders, providing data-driven insights to inform strategic investment decisions and influence business priorities.
  • Use analytical expertise to assess Brand and Marketing performance across traffic, conversion, and financial metrics, identify patterns between marketing investments and business outcomes, quantify opportunities, and drive actionable insights for investment optimization. Tailor insights and recommendations to different audiences, ensuring clear communication with marketing, finance, and senior leadership teams.
  • Combine analytical rigor with marketing expertise by understanding marketing channel constraints, marketplace dynamics, and evolving industry trends to shape strategic recommendations. Embed performance tracking strategies, including transaction attribution, multi-touch attribution, and forecasting techniques, to assess marketing ROI effectively.
  • Lead investment recommendations, balancing short-term performance optimization with long-term brand and business growth strategies. Optimize resource allocation for marketing investments, ensuring efficient budget usage and cost-effectiveness in marketing spend.
  • Develop and apply financial models to forecast marketing investment impact, evaluate performance trends, and inform data-driven decision-making. Identify and structure complex financial modeling requirements to enhance investment strategies.
  • Translate complex data and insights into clear, compelling business narratives that influence senior leadership and drive strategic decisions. Mentor junior colleagues, fostering a culture of analytical excellence and marketing insights capability.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders across Brand, Marketing, and Marketing Analytics to ensure a data-driven approach to investment prioritization.
  • Navigate ambiguity with confidence, adapting to a fast-paced environment while staying focused on high-impact opportunities. Use deep business knowledge to drive strategic projects and analyses that support organizational goals.

Posts on LinkedIn by affected employees show the layoffs impacting engineering and other departments. Skift, which first reported the cuts, said the layoffs impacted about 3% of Expedia’s workforce.
