Friday 7 August 2026, 3:02:08 PM BorgWarner has announced the extension of its high-volume, high-voltage inverter programmes with a major European automotive manufacturer, further strengthening its long-standing partnership in the development of advanced power electronics for electrified vehicles. The expanded programmes cover next-generation inverter solutions for both plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) and 800V battery-electric vehicles (BEVs), with production scheduled to commence in 2029. The agreement reinforces BorgWarner's position as a leading supplier of power electronics technologies supporting the global transition toward sustainable mobility. The latest programme extension reflects the growing demand for advanced inverter technologies that improve vehicle performance, energy efficiency, and driving range while supporting the rapid evolution of electric vehicle platforms. By continuing to work closely with one of Europe's leading automotive manufacturers, BorgWarner aims to deliver highly efficient power electronics that meet the increasing performance requirements of future hybrid and fully electric vehicles. For plug-in hybrid vehicle applications, BorgWarner will supply an updated high-voltage inverter built around the company's proprietary Application-Specific Integrated Circuit (ASIC) technology. The new inverter has been developed to integrate seamlessly with the customer's next-generation vehicle operating system, enabling improved communication between vehicle electronics and powertrain systems. The updated design enhances power electronics control, optimises energy management, and improves overall system efficiency, contributing to better vehicle performance and reduced emissions. The company has also developed an advanced traction inverter for next-generation 800V battery-electric vehicle platforms. BorgWarner reported second-quarter earnings of $1.42 per share, beating the Zacks Consensus Estimate of $1.26 per share and marking a 12.70% earnings surprise. This represents an increase from $1.21 per share in the same period last year. The auto parts supplier posted revenues of $3.65 billion for the quarter ended June 2026, surpassing estimates by 1.77%. This compares to year-ago revenues of $3.64 billion. The company has exceeded consensus revenue estimates three times over the last four quarters. BorgWarner shares have gained approximately 39.9% since the beginning of the year, outperforming the S&P 500's 13% gain. Despite the strong performance, the company currently holds a Zacks Rank of #4 (Sell), suggesting potential near-term underperformance.
BorgWarner reported second quarter 2026 results with US GAAP net sales increasing 0.3% year-over-year to $3,648 million, whilst organic net sales declined 1.2%. Excluding a $60 million drop in Battery Energy Systems sales, organic revenue grew modestly. The company achieved a GAAP operating margin of 10.1%, up 220 basis points, and an adjusted operating margin of 11.3%, up 100 basis points. Net earnings per diluted share rose 30.1% to $1.34, with adjusted earnings per share climbing 17.4% to $1.42. BorgWarner repurchased approximately $100 million in shares during the quarter and paid a $34 million dividend. The board authorised a $1 billion increase to its share buyback programme, bringing total authorisation to approximately $1.35 billion through 2029. The company raised its full-year 2026 adjusted earnings per share guidance to $5.05-$5.30, up from $5.00-$5.20 previously, whilst maintaining sales expectations of $14.0-$14.3 billion.
BorgWarner has appointed Rajesh Kalathur to its board of directors. Kalathur recently retired from Deere & Company, where he served as president of John Deere Financial and chief information officer. During his tenure at Deere, which began in 1996, Kalathur led the company's financial services business segment with more than $70 billion in assets and oversaw global IT and cybersecurity functions. He previously served as Deere's CFO for over six years. BorgWarner's non-executive chairman Alexis P. Michas said Kalathur's global leadership experience across finance, IT, operations, and sales will be valuable to the board.

Mr. Kalathur most recently served as President of John Deere Financial and Chief Information Officer of Deere & Company, a global leader in the production of agricultural, construction, forestry, turf, power systems, and other solutions, which he joined in 1996 and from which he retired in 2026. In these roles, he led Deere & Company's financial services business segment with more than $70 billion in assets and oversaw enterprise-wide global information technology and cybersecurity functions. Prior to these roles, Mr. Kalathur served as Deere & Company's Chief Financial Officer for more than six years. Mr. Kalathur holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the National Institute of Technology in Jamshedpur, India, a Master of Science in Industrial Engineering from the University of Alabama, and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Chicago's Booth School of Business.
