GE Vernova is a global energy company created in 2024 to support the electricity grid and the energy transition, with three focuses: Power, Wind, and Electrification. It sells large-scale equipment, signs long-term service agreements, and provides software to utilities, independent power producers, grid operators, and large industrial energy users. Its products include H-Class gas turbines that can burn natural gas with blends of hydrogen toward 100% hydrogen, Haliade-X offshore wind turbines up to 14.7 MW, and GridOS software that unifies grid data to help manage networks and integrate renewables. By combining hardware, services, and software under GE heritage, it aims to meet rising electricity demand while accelerating decarbonization across global energy systems.

GE Vernova holds $176B backlog yet stock dips 5% as wind losses and spending increases spook investors

GE Vernova, General Electric's former energy division spun off in 2024, reported a $176.3 billion backlog in Q2 2026, up 37% year-over-year. The company's growth has been driven by expanding cloud, AI, and data centre markets requiring increased power infrastructure. Total orders surged 89% in the first half of 2026, with Power and Electrification segments rising 99% and 131% respectively. GE Vernova expects full-year revenue growth of 19% to 22%. Despite strong performance, shares declined 5% over the past month whilst the S&P 500 gained 3%. The pullback followed Q2 results where adjusted EBITDA and earnings per share missed Wall Street expectations due to increased capacity spending and additional losses in the Wind division.

GE Vernova deploys AirJoule water generation system at Frontier Campus research centre

GE Vernova has installed AirJoule Technologies' atmospheric water generation system at its Advanced Research Center Frontier Campus. This marks the first publicly disclosed collaboration between the two companies at this scale. The system provides a live demonstration of technology designed to address water and energy needs for industrial facilities and data centres. GE Vernova is using its Frontier Campus to showcase applied research in power and energy infrastructure. The deployment forms part of broader industry efforts to tackle water use, energy efficiency, and resiliency challenges facing heavy facilities and data centres. The installation gives GE Vernova a reference point when engaging industrial, utility, and data centre customers facing water and grid constraints. The collaboration may support GE Vernova's positioning in power infrastructure projects addressing resource-constrained environments.

GE's $593B comeback: How CEO Larry Culp pulled off history's greatest turnaround

GE CEO Larry Culp has orchestrated what many industry leaders consider the greatest corporate turnaround in modern business history. When he took over in 2018, GE's market capitalisation stood at $96 billion, down over 80% from its 2000 peak, with $150 billion in crushing debt. Today, the three companies Culp created from GE's breakup — GE Aerospace, GE Vernova, and GE HealthCare — have a combined market value of $689 billion. The trio has delivered annualised returns of roughly 30% since Culp's arrival, double the S&P 500's performance. GE Vernova has jumped over 600% whilst GE Aerospace has risen more than 160%. Culp's approach centred on lean manufacturing principles learnt from the Toyota Production System. He decentralised operations, eliminated three-quarters of central staff positions, and fostered a culture encouraging managers to spotlight problems rather than successes.
