Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 1-3 years of relevant professional experience in construction management, real estate development, architecture, or owner’s representation.
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects from inception to completion, effectively navigating ambiguity and coordinating cross-functional resources.
  • Proven track record of developing and maintaining strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in construction management software and building maintenance systems preferred.
  • Strong skills in budgeting, scheduling, and project management methodologies.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex information clearly.
  • Must reside in New York City within 180 days of hire.
Responsibilities
  • Develop comprehensive long-term capital plans and annual expense budgets for NYCEDC’s asset portfolio.
  • Collaborate closely with the Asset Management leasing team to ensure that asset programs align with policy and market/tenant needs.
  • Deliver bespoke, forward-thinking design projects that meet quality standards, timelines, and budget constraints.
  • Oversee all phases of development, including: Procurement of architecture, engineering, and construction teams, Conducting existing conditions assessments, feasibility studies, and programming, Estimating and budgeting, Managing schematic design through construction documentation and regulatory submissions, Overseeing bidding, construction, and project close-out.
  • Interface with various NYCEDC departments to integrate relevant expertise and ensure project alignment.
  • Manage the EDC funding and payment process, including invoice and change order reviews, award letter approvals, procurement, and compliance.
  • Present project updates and outcomes to internal and external stakeholders, including elected officials, City Hall representatives, business owners, community groups, and other agencies.
  • Foster and maintain productive working relationships with all stakeholders to facilitate project success.
  • Execute additional tasks as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and a commitment to team goals.
